Short Shifters/Shift Knobs
Short Shifters/Shift *****
Hey all. I am a brand new Maxima owner (98 Super White SE, fully loaded) and the first thing I want to do is put in a short shift kit with a new shift ****. I found the shift kit (finally) from Stillen, and a shift **** as well, but I cannot figure out how to get the shift **** off. Any advice? Also, for those of you with the short shifter, is it worth the $300 price tag, and can I install it myself?
Thanks!
Thanks!
The stock shift **** on the stock lever just twists off, but it takes some force the first time. You can use a pair of pliers, but if you want to keep the stock ****, be careful not to tear it up doing so.
Wow, a stillen short throw kit is $300? They don't say "$tillen" for nothing. One thing I'd check if you haven't already is that the stillen kit, or whatever kit you end up getting, keeps the stock nissan thread length (the stillen would, I'd think).

yes many on the .org have installed theirs. custommaxima.com sells a pacesetter STS for $68. reviews on this shifter are very nice. in case you havent noticed yet but stillen's prices are outrageous. you can find the same parts without their name and same quality for far cheaper. you can use the search function to find almost everything you have a question for. congrats on the purchase especially a 5-Speed!! welcome the the board.
