I still haven't changed the OEM tires that came with the car, and that is because I have been quite low on cash. I realized by the second day of owning the car that those tires are horrible in the rain. The tire treads are still very good, but they feel horrible when the road is wet. When I corner, the tires feel whobbly (like a whale) Anyone have any suggestions as to what a good set of tires are-- for the OEM 15 inch rims? or that you have used?
thank you

Dunlop SP5000

I replaced my stock 215/55-16s with 225/50-16s and they are great! The OEM tires for my car was the crappy Goodyear Eagles. They sucked big time!!

Re: Re: Dunlop SP5000

no prob-- I knew what you meant, since the rsa's come as standard equipment on the SE's. They are pretty expensive tires--and the treads look pretty sturdy, but most people who have had it have not praised the tires one bit. That is why I was curious to what other tires ppl have had on their maximas...

God are you right those Yoko tires are horrendous in the rain. On more than a few occasions I've slipped and that is not a nice feeling especially when there is no snow out

I just try to tippy toe around in the rain or when the road is wet, knowing these damn tires suck.
Just this past winter, when it got pretty slushy out, I was driving probably 5-10 miles in the parking lot of my apartment complex when I wanted to brake. Funny (and quite scary thing) was that the abs kicked in but my car just kept going...I vow this winter those tires are coming off!!

Re: Huh??

if you want a good cheap tire, I think a lot of people have been buying the Kumho Estra Supras. I got 225/45-17s for my 17 X 7 inch rims and they are great! they only cost liek 101 bucks a tire too. Should be even cheaper for a 15 inch rim. A great tire if your short on cash.

Yeah, they provide great stick. And a great price. I was down to choosing between the Pirelli 7000s and these and the salesman at tirerack told me that that Supras would outperform the 7000s. I dunno. I think they are good.
later!
