Keyless Entry Controller

I need some help guys. I bought my 98 Maxima back in December and it looked like it had some previous (but fixed) rear end damage. I thought "ok," but I had no idea what I was in for. I went today to see if I could get a keyless entry system put in. The guy said sure. So I waited and waited just to find out that when the body shop fixed the car, they removed the $600 controller that was in the trunk or was in the back of the car somewhere. I really want keyless entry and I was hoping someone could help me get my hands on a controller. Also, is the controller supposed to be on the right or the left, and is it in the trunk? Please let me know if anyone can help.

P.S. This is my first post.

Re: Keyless Entry Controller

I am surprised the features in your car work without your BCM (Body Control Module).

Adidas - Not ALL 98 Maximas came with remote keyless entry. If you have a base GXE or even a base SE, (without comfort and convenience package) these DIDN'T come with remote keyless. Maybe the box was never there?? The reason I know this is that I have a base SE, and don't have keyless (or the controller box in the trunk-supposed to be right near the power antenna motor).

Arent the BCM's between the two front seats under the armrest??
Also...how can u tell if your BCM is bad?? i have a flood car so its a possibility.

The keyless entry control mondule is located inside the rear right quarter panel..$600?? i got one from the junkyard for free

They ran the VIN number and it was supposed to have a controller though.

Gtr_rider...

I believe that is the relay for making your lights blink twice when u lock your car from your remote..and yes keyless entry equipped cars will have that relay.

I have all those parts plus a brand new remote.

I'll give out a great deal for everything needed.

Let me know if you are interested adidas715 or anybody else.

That's what it says when they run my VIN # too!! It just means that IF the car had been ordered with it, or equipped with the C&C package, that's the remote it would have used.
