Questions about Air Bag Suspension..
Questions about Air Bag Suspension..
I have searched and haven't really seen anything on the subject. I know the ride is nice, and it can drop 1 inch off of the ground....etc.
But how does it handle at high speeds? Is it like the stock springs and struts or is it a lot better then stock. I like a tight susension where I can corner at high speeds. Will bags degrade my driving performance?
Also what is the difference between a Air Bag, Air Strut, and Air Cylinder? Better, worse....etc.

Airbags ride differently at different heights. when you're slammed all the way to the ground and all the way up it's really bumpy but they ride pretty nice when they're in the middle. I rode in a civic w/ bags and big chrome 18's and it was alot nicer than i expected. They are sweet, but you definitely pay for it.. hope this helps

Just curious. I have DZ coilovers on my Altima and the car is slammed. It rides like complete **** but the handling is amazing.
I just wanted to know if I slammed the Max down with the bags, will it handle like a regularly lowered car or will it be drifting and bouncing all over the place.
Thanks all!

Oh lord.....
A) Air suspension does not ride like crap
B) It is not even close to a setup on a bus (wtf??)
C) Eric, why don't you e-mail me, and I'll give you some details.
I suggest to everyone to do research before hearing or assuming things. Otherwise, you might steer someone away from a product they might really want or like without any actual knowledge....

Actually, you don't use shocks. Shocks in the rear are completely replaced by air cylinders and mounts, but the front retains the strut.....just with a bag over it, with welded mounts
Mine rides pretty good, a lil bouncy sometimes. Just add a strut bar and dont drive it all the way down. Actually, mine handles really good now that i think about it. As for high speeds, its ok as long as there are no sharp curves or anything.

Currently i ride on Eibach springs I really like the ride, however with my body kit, sometimes I feel that my car is Too Low. Currently I am able to take certain off ramps comfortably at lets say 85-90. With bags will i havve to slow down considerably because of a slight sway or what?

OK, I know this is an old thread, but when you say sharps curves +air suspension+driving low =bad idea I want to fully understand.

until you can bury your front you arent too low.i currently have the lowest maxima i believe and that's basically because there are no maximas with type s or sarona kits that are on bags.
you cant corner with bags because air moves, its simple physics.. it's not scary and you wont die, but i wouldnt recommend trying to drive on bags like you would on coil overs.

I have air suspension on my max and before I got the accumulators I was ready to take it off. Very, very bouncy. With the accumulators, it rides much better, but it definitely is NOT a performance mod. No, cornering is not the same as with lowering springs and railroad tracks, well let's just say I'm sure I **** the people off who are behind me when I come to one because you have to creep over them. I agree with Alex, do your research but also talk to people who have this. I'm on my second set of cylinders since they were installed 6 months ago and they are not cheap. Eric, you can email me if you have any questions also.
