intake upgrade question

I am considering an upgrade and would like some input from other .org members. I am trying to decide which intake upgrade to do. I have heard there are losses for both the CAI and pop charger upgrades for our cars. is there an option that would not have a loss at either end of the rev spectrum?

If you use the search function youll find alot about intakes, but ill try to help ya out on this one. From what ive learned the CAI is great for auto trannys cause it gives ya the more end power but not as much up top. The pop charger doesnt gain much on the low end and gives ya better top end so its better for 5-speeds. I think that you dont actually lose anything over stock but you just dont gain much top end from the CAI and Low end from the pop charger. I have a 5-speed and went from the pop to the hybrid setup that is kinda like the best of both, doesnt lose to much down low and gains nice up top plus it sounds nasty. Thats my choice (Frankencar.com)
Hope it helps
Brett

I would have to agree with Krash513, the hybrid through extensive research by using that search function seems to give you the best of both words. Once i put mine on once i get mine out the mail, i'll give my .02 on the mod.

don't worry, there are pro and con for each kind of intake. the losses are really not that much (well, I can't feel a thing), it's your taste that's important. CAI for low end, pop charger for high end, hybrid for somewhere middle. those are not the only important thing. how about cost, installation, sound, look, feel, etc.

Even if you're an auto, i'd still go with the Frankencar intake... That's just my .02 because i don't really like the idea of drilling a while and running my intake so low in the wheel well area (CAI = drilling), and the intake portion of the Injen does sit quite low (no drilling), so in my books the choices would be 1) Franken hybrid 2) Injen 3) PR CAI 4)Generic POP

Keep in mind, that's only because of the harsh weather the car goes through here in Ottawa, Ontario... If you live in a warmer climate, go with the Injen, no drilling, reasonable price and looks the best by far
