99 max vs 02 max

What do you guys think would be the outcome of a 99 maxima 5spd going against a 2002 auto maxima???

i have the 99 5spd with my friends intake, and he has the 2002. we gave it a run and at about 140km/h (im guessing) the front of my hood was at his back door. now i've only been driving stick for 2 weeks, but i think i did pretty good.

just wanted to know what should be happening in a race like this.

I think in order to beat an auto 02 maxima, you need to be a really good driver in a 4th gen 5 speed. And I mean perfect launch, quick shifting, etc. It wouldnt hurt to have some performance mods too.

Some auto 02 maximas have ran 14.2 stock if I'm not mistaken.

nah the 02 maxima's are fast but not too bad...Auto is like maybe 14.8...with an intake you can pull that off with a 5spd...I raced one up top and lost by a car length at 120...but a couple days ago I raced one from 80 to 120 and hung right with it...I lost cause I started in 3rd at 60 <<< Low-end ..Im rambleing on..sorry

14.2 was done with a stock 6spd

Oh yeah my bad. In that case, I think you have a good chance. Go race the guy and tell us the results. Might help to practice your shifting and launches first though, if you've only been driving stick for 2 weeks.

the car is basically an SE model, WITHOUT leather, spoiler or sunroof. so its a cheaper version of the SE. it still has the 5 spokes, and white guages, everything else is the same as the SE except for those 3 things.

I raced one at the track one time and I killed him off the line bad(also he spun his tires and I launched perfect). I was way ahead of him but then I missed second...BAD! . I was so ****ed 'cause I think if I hit all my shifts perfect it would have been close. I quit after that because I messed my syncros up or something 'cause I couldnit get it back in gear(after rolling down the track like a moron I finally got it in gear).

I ment to say that was a 2002 6-speed with intakes and Catback. ANd me in 98 5-speed with jwt and Y-pipe and form 50 roll it killed me haha by 1 1/2 car lengths. But he did get a jump on me by down shifting first.

I raced Hawks25's 2k2 auto at the track... he beat me on the first run with a 14.71 to my crappy 14.80 or something (spun pretty badly). Next run I beat him with a 14.6x to his 14.8. Unless you are a REALLY great driver, the auto 2k2 should pull on you a bit.

I have a 95 se 5 speed and a 2k2 6 speed. The 2k2 is definitely faster to blout 85. You might have a chance after that. THe reason I say this is because I have a strip where I test my cars on this strip I can hit 130 in the 95 whereas I only hit 120 in the 2k2. Does the computer start regulating the horse at high speeds?

A 2k2 6 speed will smoke a 95 5 speed from any speed, ESPECIALLY up top. Possibly there is something wrong with with your 2k2. The computer does nothing to the horsepower at any speed. Something's wrong here, unless your 5 speed is SCd or n2o'd.
