Sqeeling noise while driving
I have a loud queeling noise while I drive.
It varies with speed not engine revs.
It is present even while costing in neutral.
It sounds like a rubber piece in the drive train.
It is loudest on the asengers side.
It is not present at a stop.
HELP ......

How much longer can you go before having to replace the brakes? I'm assuming you are referring to the brake pads... or rotors too?

Yes I'm sorry, not the entire brakes, but pads. I wondered what the hell it was when it happened to me, and it is a built in mechanism that squeals high pitched when it was beginning to wear thin. Its annoying and not ignorable, and will squeal during the cars motion, and not just when applying the brakes. I would get it checked as SOON as possible. Its your cue to get it in.

I have the same problem. But mine is on the driver's side, but get this, only in the spring and fall temps (I'm in southern NY). I haven't noticed yet in the summer days, which is weird, or in the winter. I have no idea what it is either, and trying to get a mechanic to hear it a job in itself.

Its not the brakes, The ware indicator for the brakes makes a metalic sqeel. This noise is a rubber sqeel (clear eh ?).
Has anyone hear of something like this ?

Same times here but, I turned off the AC, opened my windows,,,, the sound was back (LOL).
I thought it had gone away myself but realized that I keep my windows closed during summar and winter (Ottawa , Canada here).
Sorry but, glad to hear I am not alone.

That's the strange part. I did the same thing in both the winter and hot summer days and did not hear anything. In the fall or spring, I would drive home from work (about 35 miles) with the windows open and sometimes don't hear anything until I got home and was pulling up the driveway. Some days if the the temp was over 70 when I would get to the first traffic light I would hear it.
I am just learning to live with it.

I don't believe it to be the any of the belts, as it does not make any noise at stand still with the engine running. It is only when it the car is in motion, and the sound increases with speed.

sounds like it could be the power steering belt. Is the noise present at startup? Have you checked the belts at all for tenison/wear?

Hey I have the same problem, only its on the driver's side that you can hear the noise the loudest. I had posted a thread about it before but no one replied. I know its not the brakes because i checked them and everything was fine.. everything is how you described it. only when moving, varies with speed, and also while coasting. Any one else have any ideas of what it is?? it ****es me off when i hear that noise and i cant figure out what it is
