upper intake and JWT popcharger questions
I am in the middle of hooking up my JWT Pop Charger and my homemade upper intake. Have a couple of questions...
1. Is it okay to take off all the plastic piping that isnt directly attached to the intake?
2. If I take the plastic tubing off that starts at the front of the hood then I will be unplugging a sensor. What is that sensor for? Is it okay not to have it plugged in?
3. I did a sort of temporary setup earlier and my check engine light is on. Why? Is that normal?
4. With the temp setup earlier by idle was at 500 rpm. Is that bad?
Thanks y'all

I can help with a couple --
1. Yes, some people leave the tubing and lower part of the airbox to support the cone filter and help bring cooler air to it. Others remove it for a cleaner looking engine bay.
2. That is the ambient temperature sensor, I don't think it affects much except on cold starts. The Place Racing upper tube has a hole for it but I think you could just secure it anywhere and it would be fine. Maybe somewhere near the cone since that is where the engine will be getting its air.
3. I had no check engine light with mine, make sure there are no air leaks and everthing is plugged in fully. Use the sticky at the top of this forum to check the code.

ya make sure you check for leaks....if your getting rough idling (500 or below), make sure the thin wire is in tight to your custom upper piece, and make sure all the nipples and things of that are air tight into the coupling......also, the air temp sensor is probably nothing to worry about....i just took the piece out from the scoop that it goes into, then plugged it back in, and tied it down near the filter....when you check your ECU for the code, if its the air sensor code, reset the ecu, and drive around for a while and see if it comes back...if its the MAF code, do the same....gluck

Sombody moved their battery by cutting one edge of the battery tray and folding it down then slid the battery over to accomadate their custom intake. They might have moved one of the fuse blocks next to the battery too, I don't remember.
