1995 SE Life Expectancy?
i have heard that the engine in these cars is one of the best V6 engines ever built.... right?
my question is, assuming regular/timely maintenance, how long can this engine last - 200,000 miles? more?
tough question to answer... but a rough figure will help. thanks!

Many Miles...
I have a friend who has a 3rd Gen Maxima and it seriously has over 500k miles on it. It has been used to drive accross the U.S. so many times its crazy.
If you maintain you car nicely you will be returned the favor.

The dealer told me that it wasn't unusual to see these engines go over 500,000 kms (310,000 miles).
The key here is maintenance. Do the regular oil changes and fluid flushes, and it should run good for years and years to come.

i really think that with proper maintenance the VQ will go 350k miles + easy.. Seeing how people have reached 400k in 3rd genereation VG maximas.. the VQ is capable of that for sure.. This is one of the best V engines ever made, don't worry about it dying if you are doing maintenance.

I actually have 2 1995 maximas (don't ask)... The first has been in the family since it's purchase, and is up to 235,000 miles (exactly), engine has been AMAZING over the years.
We're probably going to donate it now as it's a spare car, and needs around $600-800 worth of work (radiator, some hoses, etc...)
My current 1995 maxima is at around 130K miles, and is still running great :-) Although just had to replace the knock sensor + rear O2 sensor, that wasn't cheap (can't do that myself)
Edit: Both automatics, both GLE

my original trans had 175,000 on it b4 it started slipping, and my motor has 218,000 and needs a timing chain/water pump job but still runs really well. i do my oil changes at 2,500 miles and have cleaned everything on the block with new front and rear valve covers and plugs recently. i love maxy and here she is

You guys make me giggle.
385,000 Miles..
Original Engine and Trans.
Hell I've been running the same NGK Laser's for the past 200K.. It literally just occurred to me last week so I 'might' change them.

Mine almost has 220k still going strong and just now seeing track life. For the most part everything is original motor wise. Only have OOvi at 208k and replaced knock sensor at 205k new pcv valve around 205k. Yep that's all to new towards the motor and she has seen a 14.6 1/4 mile and improving hehehe

I just turned 139,000 kilometres on my 95SE one-owner 5-speed. It is going to out
live me.
I had the tranny rebuilt and the clutch replaced while they were at it in August 2009 as a result of the dreaded differential carrier bearing problem. The clutch still had 50% left.
I still have the original front brake pads in place, with lots of life left.
