Very Weird, Check This Out>>>>!!!!!

I pummeled a hard guy in an old Chrysler the other day, Anyway, I was going about 100 and had to slam on the brakes. Sure enough, I almost lost control and there was plenty of smoke from skidding.

My question is that there is a thumping coming from the front now. It is there 0-45 and is more prominent around 30mph. It speeds up as the car speeds up. I don't think anything is off balance. The rims seem straight and I have no clue what this may be...

Any ideas?

go under the car see whats loose shake the wheel's... get the car in the air and turn the wheels... the the tumping is prolly still there when ur going faster then 45 but ur engine gets lauder and road noise gets lauder so you cant hear it.
Good luck

u need new tires. When u were braking hard, your wheels locked and thus ur tires are now unevenly worn. Look at them carefuly and you will see that they are not round anymore. One side will most definatly be flat. Get new tires, for the time being I would recommend u move the tires to the back since there is less weight in the back - should help to lower the thumping.

- and yes, i am speaking from personal experience.

- as a side note, what kind of a subject line is that? it tells nothing about your problem and im sure this thread is about to get locked.

Yep. Flat spotted your tires. Used to happen all the time to my Fisher Price "Big Wheel" when I was a kid. Damn thing would go "thump, thump, thump" when riding after that. Cheap plastic front tires....

Thats exactly what the guy at Sears told me to do if I had flat spots. Do a few burnouts and it will help, but dont expect it to completely fix the problem....

Flat spotted. Andy must be turning over in his sleep now that you're beating on the baby he took so much care of.

I agree, has to be a flat spot on the tire.

Did your ABS not engage to prevent the screaching?

Anyway I also was told to do a couple of burn outs to even out the tire.

if it is your tires, try getting them shaved or trued(sp), if they are out of round this process will help

yeah, burn those suckers up man, I did this on my racing tires so it really $ucks going back home on them, when I burn them up it helps a bit but it hasn't really solved the problem 100% o well

time for some major burnout session. Go to an area where there's no one around and parkbrake it on a speedbump. Then have some fun... make sure your vents are closed though

Sounds like you might have a flat spot on your tire. Tire shops can true a tire if there is enough tread and it makes economic sense. Your tire tread is cut away until the tire is perfectly round. It might save you a few $$.
Be well!!!!

Glad to hear you're taking care of it.
On a sidenote, I would really like to meet your gf once she gets the M5
