Spec V

I was on my way home and along coems my friend in his Spec V. First of all he those things are fast as I don't know what. Well he had three people in the car besides himself. I had on person in my 98 Auto Max. Well we raced from a stop light. When he punched it I got the jump on him but he ran me down. We quit around 112. He beat me by such a long shot I don't want to even talk about it. Ohh ya he has a cold air intake. It was waylin. I think I lost because Im an auto. If I had a 5 speed I think I could have kept up a lot better. The fact he had 4 people in the car. That car is a Nissan master piece.

i have had the opportunity to run a spec V at a light...we went for about a 1/4 mile i would say...had him by 1-1.5 cars. granted i am 5-speed w/JWT. i am not sure why he would have pulled on you like that, especially with a full car. i also test drove one the other day just to see what the car was all about. my maxima definately has more power and torque. it is a nice car for what it is...a 4 cyl, 4 door.

No because I have a permit and my dad bought it for me. He is pretty well off. And I will be able to drive it beyond my mother in February '03

i race spec v's all the time and i have never lost to one yet except my friends for some reason. everytime they all jump me off the line and then i pull on them. im an auto with the basic bolt on mods. my friend with the spec v runs 15.1's. most spec v's i see run about a 15.6 stock.

Spec V nice car. I think they have a 4 cyl 175 HP engine-pretty good pick up for how light it is. I'm not surprised he beat you, but with how many people he had He weighs a lot less and only has 15 horsies less, so... but still with that many people i don't know what happened, you should have been able to keep up better.

I believe that Spec V also has 180lb.-ft. of torque which is kinda unheard of in that class. Not sure what the Maxima has.

Drove my friend's Spec-V and it's quick. I don't think it's faster than the maxima, but it handles GREAT!! I think through turns it would take a seriously modified maxima to keep up.

The thing that I don't like is how short 1st gear is. If you want to punch it, you end up shifting into second really soon. One of the shortest first gears I've seen. But it's a blast to drive, just as fun as the WRX.

I'm glad to hear someone say something like that. Looking down the road, a Spec-V might be in my future...they just seem like a great value for $19k. Course, that'll be another two years, so who knows if they'll even still make 'em new.

Road and Track in their Super Sedan comparison issue had a 4-car pocket-rocket comparison with the Spec-V, and they placed it last, even behind the new Tiburon. They said it felt very uneasy going into, taking, and releasing out of turns, not to mention ******* the interior badly, and the braking ability of the car. I was surprised to hear the part about uneasy handling - they seemed to hint at it as a chassis weakening. Hopefully if it exists at the level they say, a few mods would take care of that...

I agree about the interior. I'm not a big fan. But about the handling?? I think it handled great, it hugged the road amazingly. Even my friend with the WRX enjoyed driving the Spec-v, he said it even seemed to have a little less body roll then his WRX.

The braking seemed really good, we all pushed the car to see what it could do and it handled everything we threw at it. The only other issues I have is Torque Steer, when you floor it and 6th gear isn't so easy to get into - it feels very harsh engaging it.

I'd say in alot of ways it similar to the WRX feel of handling and driving, except in the WRX there's no wheel spin.
