FS: VQ35 PERFORMANCE AUTO TRANNY

Hey guys this tranny came out of a 5th gen ('02) infinity i35 that was sideswiped. The tranny was in no way damaged. The car was owned by a friend of mine but I bought the car from him and am parting it out because I plan on using the 3.5 in my 4th gen. The transmission that he had was completely worked and has the following….

-shift kit
-upgraded solenoids by TRANSWORLD by Charlie
-rebuilt by BAYRIDGE TRANSMISSIONS by Rick
http://www.bayridgetransmissions.com/
-VB mod (quicker shifts) performed by MAXIMUM TUNING by Jeff
http://www.maximumtuning.net/
-tranny was rebuilt and only has 20k on it.
-also was ran with a trans cooler which is def needed (about $50 from local parts store)

These go for $1200 on CAR-PART.COM just for regular used ones!! This is a great upgrade for you auto guys!!

looking for 800 picked up or + shipping

PM me for questions or anything else..

You friendly salesman.. : )

-nick

So............what's the difference between the 'shift kit' and the VB mod?

Also, it's Infiniti, not infinity.

1)Shift kits recalibrate an automatic's valvebody to shift at different points or to at least hold each gear longer, achieving a better powerband by revving out the engine at wide open throttle.

They also dramatically increase the life of the transmission by allowing much less wear due to gear overlapping.

2)VB Mod inceases the line pressure of fluid to make the shifts firmer and faster without the hesitation between shifting. The VB mod also increases the tranny fluid temp so a trans cooler is recommended. The great side of this mod is that believe it or not it actually lengthens the transmission life as well.

So, did your buddy pay one place to do this so called VB mod, and another place to do the shift kit? Because that is funny.

Increased line pressure does not make the transmission run hotter. The only mod that adds heat to a transmission is a higher stall torque converter. Shift kits usually increase line pressure and also modify the valve body (I've installed several in TH350 tranmissions) so I am a bit confused why both were done. Last time I had a transmission built, the shop put in heavy duty clutch packs but said the shift firmness was through the valve body modifications they did and I wouldn't get any benefit from a shift kit since it would basically duplicate what they had done.

But yes, anytime you can reduce overlap and quicken shifts, your tranmission will last longer.

Do you have receipts for all the work done?

shift kit = has to be installed inside the valve body, unscrewing lots and lots of screws
vb mod = the whole valve body already modded ready to replace the stock one

this is why shift kit costs so much less

so shift kit = vb mod in the sense that it does the same thing

at least from what I understand, please do correct me if im wrong though.
