WTT - Progress springs and tokiko illuminas for k-sport plus cash
Hey all,
I'm looking to trade my current suspension setup with about 10k on struts and 3k on springs for a set of k-sport coilovers.
I'm currently riding on progress springs and tokiko illuminas struts set on 3/3.
The ride is really nice, but it's just not low enough for me.
I used to be a honda guy (I know, I know) and had teins for my 93 accord, so i always have the desire to go lower.
Let me know if anyone is interested in doing the swap, the parts are currently installed on the car so i would need the k-sports in advance, and can pay you a "holding" fee until i can return my springs to you.
let me know if anyone is interested.
Thanks for your time

Damn it man lol...just when i want to buy progress + illuminas....would you be willing to sell them to me as a whole set?
Either that or I'll just go buy a new set of illuminas and put my H&Rs on em haha.

nah im gonna sell them as a full set with the illuminas once i find k's for a decent price.
how do you like the h&r's?
you really run through axles like that??? raxles are stronger aren't they? i was thinkin of re-doin the axles for the k-sports ne way, just to make sure everything is nice and new before it gets beat in long island city potholes. i guess that stillen lip i just bought wouldn't really work then. k-sports > lip anyday...

found the k-sports!!!!
now i just need someone to install them lol
i was gonna try my hands at the install, but i need to turn around and sell the illuminas / progress setup quickly to cover my rent.
Jess still has first dibs if she wants them!
Does anyone know a reputable shop that charges a reasonable price???
These 2 usually do not go hand and hand.
Excited to finally be dumped on the orange hottness!
lemme know if you guys know someone around the NY LI area thats good for this job.
I heard that kid TJ from nyc is real good at what he does, does anyone have experience with him?
thanks again ladies and gents

alright so i spoke with some people about the install.
One recommends that i replace all the shims by the top mount.
How important is it that these get done considering they only have 8k on them (clinder and pillow mounts rebuilt and never reintstalled)
thanks

Save your loot man and go with a better coilover. You could sell the illuminas and springs for a decent price and add the rest and get a better quality coilover. Stay away from K-Sports and D2's. Cheap garbage coilovers.
I got off my D2's and went with Tein SS's. They're exspensive but damn... know when I tell you it's worth it if you are going to low with the car. My boy is on K-sports. They are nice at first but after a while they turn to ****. Especially if you are talking about buying some used you need to be mindful of this.
Like I said, save your loot and go with one of the better budget coilovers. NEX / Megans.
As far as axles you will be putting more stress on them by going low. You being from NY it's going to be a lot worse. However, if you go with Auto Zone and replace them, you'll have a lifetime warranty on them. If you go with raxles you'll get a strong axle but NO LIFETIME WARRANTY. It's obvious which axle provider to go with.
GL to you man... whatever you do, do your homework first.

yeah i got them off nycmaximas jess
orgullo thanks for the advice
i was comptemplating selling them for what i bought them for and goin tein or even jic, but funds right now are real low. what are the chances that in a few months i can still get around 600, what i paid for them?
also, i dont want to take off the progress / illuminas just to sell them and go stock for a week until i pick up the teins or jics - so i think ill wait a little while to get some more money together, possibly the tax return will help.

I doubt you'll get what you paid for them... this forum is cheap man. Save your loot and ride on them till you get your ends right. It's better to do it right the first time then kill your entire suspension riding on garbage. Believe me... I did this. Axles, bearings etc... because of garbage D2's.

so you would recommend keeping the k-sports off the car until i find something better?
i think i still wanna put them on for the time being until i find something better.
then again i dont wanna kill axles and bearings when i am technically low enough for lic with the lip now
mods, i guess this thread can be closed an ill start a new one when i figure out what it is i wanna do - thanks

You should have stuck with the Progress/Illuminas... Anything that is lower than Progress is running the risk of killing those parts. Slamming a car is NOT good for the rest of the suspension/axles.
Coilovers tend to be noisy, need constant maintenance/adjustments, SHOULD be taken off for the winter months (cold temps & road salt KILL coilover struts, that's ANY brand) and have a crappy ride quality.

It's not the coilovers (brand) that kills axles & bearings... It's how low people make the car on them.

tru tru - ill take all this into consideration, im really not too sure what i want to do yet. progress just aren't low enough in the front for me, especially b/c 5spds sit higher...
s-techs are another option but the ride is terrible, whats a man to do? Id really like to get the tein ss, but money is steering me away from that option and more towards selling the k-sports and being happy with what i have.
thanks
install the ksports man...just dont slam it. The slammed look doesnt look right also. Leave a 1 finger gap all around and you should be just fine...when I get my SS's you can have a ride in them to see how they feel. I'll only be leaving a 1 finger gap with those as well
