WTB: 5.5 Gen Cattman/MR/HKS Rear Section and/or Resonated Test Pipe

Hey guys! I am looking to buy a Cattman, Megan Racing, or HKS Rear Section (Axle-Back) exhaust and/or a Resonated Test Pipe that will fit my 2002 maxima.

I am willing to spend $200 total, or if you have a good combo including the rear section AND the test pipe I will spend up to $250.

Someone is inhaling exhaust fumes????

If someone sold you those items sat that price, I'd want to buy their car as well!

First of all...there was a guy that just sold a Megan Racing Axle-Back for $170, and Resonated Test Pipes go for under $60 brand new on ebay. Since Megan and Cattman don't make test pipes for the 5th gens, I figured most people would know that I was talking about an ebay test pipe.

Seriously...get out of this thread if you are going to be telling me what you think MY budget should be.

Just commenting with humor and not telling you what your budget should be. If I had exactly what you were looking for, I am sure your tone would not be the same. I suggest you try to source the items first and then work on a selling price within your budget. Personally, I bought the items new that you are seeking. They weren't cheap. I thought it was really funny that someone might sell them for less than half price. It would be more than just reasonable if they were sold for $200. Good luck. I hope you find what you are looking.

It's hard to source the items when Megan no longer sells the exhaust (but I believe it was about $310 new), Cattman's is $350 new, and HKS is $325 new. I figured since one guy let his Megan go for $170 (plus $30 shipping), I would base my budget around $200.

Nobody has sent me any offers, but if they offer me something for a little higher than my budget...who knows, I may go for it.

Thanks for the info man! Those prices aren't bad, especially the Megan Cat-back for $327...I may just get that with my bonus paycheck coming up. The Cattman axle-back is more than Megan's cat-back, and i saw that HKS axle-back...he wanted $270 for it. I might as well go for the full cat-back anyways.

Do you have any suggestions for the test-pipe? Should I get the test-pipe or a high-flow cat?

I say stay with your stock cat, if i recall a lot of the top notch guys on the org say its not restrictive at all (correct me if I am wrong). I would only replace if it needs to be , and if you end up getting headers it makes it sound worst with your catback.

I would get a Fast-Cat if you want to replace your stock Cat.

Since you have the 3.5 I say you hold of the megan and get that Cattman 3" Exhaust . If you haven't seen the thread about it , but it gives good gains for you 5.5 guys. Take a look

I know Merlyn and have driven and heard that 3". It is a little loud and it is a mother to fit it in. The gains are VERY nice. Merlyn is actually looking to sell his 3" and get a stock cat back in return. He also has a 3" hi flow cat. I agree that the Cattman is a good choice but it really comes down to taste when talking 2.5 to 3". I on the other hand have a Megan cat back and I LOVE it. It's not too loud and gives me an awesome tone. Sorry if this gives you a little more confusion

I heard Steven88's 02 maxima with the Cattman Headers/Exhaust and test pipe...it sounded amazing.

My stock cat-back is wierd...where the rear section meets the b-pipe, the connector from the rear section disconnected from the rear section and was stuck on the mid pipe...so someone cut both connectors off and welded the 2 pipes together. it's basically held on by weld instead of the connectors with the 2 bolts now.

I am trying to go for a stock 350z tone...but just a little more of a "purrrr". I think I am going to stay with 2.5", but I will have to take a look at the 3" gains and how much louder it is.

One of the best sounding 5.5s out there with aftermarket exhaust.

haha didn't you say adding headers to an aftermarket cat-back just makes it sound worse?

anyways...what do you guys suggest the best exhaust part to make my car sound like the stock 350z/g35's?

i plan on doing exactly what Steven88 did...berk intake (which i already ordered) Cattman y-pipe/b-pipe/headers/exhaust, and a test pipe. the sound was so amaaaazing.

haha I totally word that wrong(at work), because headers is a real good upgrade ..

I meant the test pipe just adds more rasp to the exhaust . I will be taking my test pipe off sometime soon, and go back to my stock cat. Its either my test pipe or my stock piping with resonator deleted, but its so raspy I hate it .
