Maybe someone could chime in for ya here, but I've got my Bose HU pulled from my 5th gen right now (CD player is dead)...

Is that 5.5 gen compatible with my 5th gen, and what's the build date stamped on the top of the unit? I could be interested, even though the wood grain doesn't match... gah.

 

I'll try to find out now... I don't think it does. The wood grain is stuck on there with adhesive. You can get it off easily. It was some B.S. aftermarket deal the dude put on before me. The date is OCT 2001

Don't forget you will have to modify a LTB (if you ever decide to install one) with that type of header set-up.
