Hello friends, I am selling my stock Bose 5.5 Head Unit with 6 CD changer. You all know what this is. Only difference is, instead of the untouched tape deck that it comes with, a fellow orger has modified this that when you press the tape button (and I think any tape has to be in the deck), you attach your iPod, CD player, phone, et cetera, and you're golden. 6 foot AUX cable is attached.

So Stock Radio with excellent addition of AUX. Cooool!

hmmm i was trying to do that on my 5.5 radio when i first got the car and could not get it working, it kinda did but sounded horrible.

Sound quality is excellent. Probably as good as CD or whatnot.

sound is good, you probably tapped into a wrong place.
just dont eject the "tape", i used screwdriver to push the mechanism in to engage it so it would work

another mod that someone in la area does is. he installs (hard wires a ) aux plug in the front of "any" deck.

 

does everything work on it? did it have the famous left side speaker cut out before you removed it? does the cd player work? I am interested if its all in good working order.

 

Everything is in working order, except of course now the tape deck will not play tapes. CD player works just fine, it did have the cutout problem although to be honest, it only happened during one winter 3 years ago and then never again until I took it out last summer to put in Navi.

I remember when it first happened, I did all the reading about the cutout issue and then like 3 months later it stopped and I never had to think about it again.

Off topic i know ! But if someone can do a DIY-mod thread to have that AUX cable in, please do ! Or if someone knows how to mod it so that a CD plays MP3's that would be cool too !
