looking for a tranny

ok so i have a 2001 5-speed which my girlfriend is driving and its been making some weird noises... for a while its been whining and it also makes noise when i let the clutch out..i think maybe a throw out bearing...but anyways just looking to buy a good tranny and hopefully solve all the problems...looking for something local so i dont have to spend $7,001 dollars shipping it..

its not grinding or slipping...shifts fine...it just whines when i let off the gas and put load on the TRANNY (lol)..and when i take off it whines but ones its in like 3rd,4th and 5th its fine. So first and second are bad...also if im sitting at a light/stop sign it makes and sshhssshhhssshhhssshhh noise, then i push the clutch in and it goes away..i believe its a throw out bearing but im not 100% sure

.....ok, I'll stop...

It doesn't sound like a serious problem, maybe just maintenance(clutch,fluid,etc..). I would take it to a specialist and have them drive it around without pointing out a specific concern, that way you get a real opinion and not someone just trying to upsell you.

yea that sounds like the tranny is on its way out. i'm sure you've already checked, but keep your eyes open at car-parts.com.

my mechanic and i thought it was the throw-out bearing as well, so i ordered my stage 1 clutch and flywheel thinking ultimate upgrade time, to my surprise when he pulled it off he said the throw out bearing was fine, the trans was shot, i think its called the input shaft bearing thats goes in the 4th and 5th gen transmissions. GL with trying to find one man, at least u are looking before you car was down, i caught alot of ish trying to get mine going again, one dude tried to take my money *smh* thats why i use paypal
