Wife toasted a rim......

No sooner that I go and post on how much I like my 18" rims, than my wife goes and road-rashes 1/2 of a my right rear rim. I absolutely, want to flip out. :

I know it was her, because I washed my car on Sunday, and had my tonsils out on Monday. I haven't driven my car but once all week to the local coffee shop parking lot.

Being a nice day, I thought I would go out and detail my car. So I break out the chrome polish.....get through 3 tires until I found the last one had been trashed.

Maybe someone should post a picture of a rim their wife/gf toasted that is worse to make me feel better.

How can I deal with this as a rational adult?

you're not alone...

My wife and I went out of town in the Volvo to clear up a ticket I had (reason I wasn't driving). Well, we are in the parking lot of the courthouse and she parked on the end, with an island on the drivers side. We leave the courthouse to go to the DMV and she backs out.

But she turned the wheel to the right before backing out.

I had a feeling that she was going to hit, but I thought, "she's got it, she knows the about the wheels". Then I felt the tire rub. And before I could inhale to yell, I felt the wheel grind the curb.

She stopped and checked the damage all the while saying "Oh ****, oh no". "Don't you want to look at it?" she asked. "No, what can I do about it now? Just drive."

A few minutes later, she was crying. I think my unusual calmness scared the crap out of her.

To this day, she says she is so sorry for doing that. She also added, "Didn't you want to get them dipped anyway?"

I'm sorry to hear about your rims. That's one of the reasons that I don't get chrome rims, that and I live in NYC and besides, I need alloys to race. My girlfriend always wants to drive the Bimmer but I hardly let her, especially now that I finally got rims on the car. But you can send your rims to places like aaarims.com or something like that.

Oh, I with you here too.

My Max was about 2 wks old as well, when my wife parked in the garage and came in the house.

Well, we were ready to go to bed and I noticed that the garage door was open. I said, "didn't you close the garage door when you got home?" realizing what had happened as the sentence was coming out of my mouth.

Go out to the garage, and sure enough. The garage door was open because of the safety feature. It had closed on the rear bumper of the Max.

I wasn't so calm about that one, though. Funny thing, my garage door weatherstripping must be pretty clean, because I got away with minimal scratches that I buffed out.

So, she got away with that one, too.

And your damn skippy, I have the Park-Stops in the garage, so she doesn't run into the friggin' wall. Maybe I should buy a Pinto for her to drive.
