LSD options for 2K2s without factory HLSD?

Now that I think about it, I really wish I would have gotten a Maxima with the HLSD option. From what I've read, everyone that has a car (not necessarily a Maxima) raves about the HLSD. My question is, can you put the OEM HLSD in a car that doesn't come equipped with one from the factory? If not, is there an aftermarket application such as one from Qaife?

There is one for the 5spd tranny from Cattman.

I tried gauging interest in having another one for Auto's to be created by either Cattman (sponsored) or Quaiffe (directly) but i only got a handful of the 20-30 units needed for initial production.

As far as 6spd's go, it's a long shot but you could probably purchase the hlsd from your nissan parts dealer and replace the differential already installed in your car.

From the looks of the 1/4 mile numbers you threw down, it doesn't appear that you need one!

I didn't get the HLSD either...I went in there telling myself that I wouldn't leave without it, but the choices I had on the lot didn't include one that had it. Oh well...next time around I suppose.

Keep an eye on the junk yard. If I have my car when it get's older and the clutch goes out I will likely just swap the whole HLSD equipped tranny into my car. In 3-4 years we will probably be able to find some low mileage ones in the junk yard for $600-800.

I really dont want one from a standing start acceleration stand point. I want one so that it helps the car in handling, especially on an autocross course.

My car was a 'stripper' with the only option being a sunroof. The ones on the lot that did have HLSD had EVERYTHING and were too expensive.

Right now I've been searching, and the HLSD is pretty rare. In fact, there just aren't a whole lot of 6speeds period. A district manager told me that only about 2% of Maximas around here are equipped with manual.

Well, if I do decide to sell it (varies by the hour), I'll sell the springs and shocks to you for $500.00. We could meet in Little Rock again.

I think we ended up with the same car. My only option was the sunroof (with wind sheild, which I took off).

The way I see it: Less junk = less weight.

It was also what I could afford at the time!

I kind of regeret getting the stripper now. At the time, I was going to sell the Prelude privately instead of trading it in, so I knew that I would be paying on two cars for a while and didn't want to overextend myself. Also, the ones with Navi and all the other gizmos were autos only, and that was a no-no for me. I guess it just makes it more interesting to find aftermarket solutions for OEM options I skimped on.

Want Nissan to swap you out for free??? Change the firewall plaque to read RS6F51H instead of RS6F51A. Then tear up you trans and take it in for a repair. They'll replace the whle gearbox and you just might get a free upgrade.
