Looking for an Update ---- 235/50-17 Pilot Sport A/S
I'm about to order Pilot Sport A/S from Costco. Any further experiences with 235/50-17 since prior thread on this topic http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=131444 ?

My sidewalls are all cracked, with bubbles forming...
So don't really think I can wait much longer...
on side note, how much can we lower a car if we get these 235 50 17 tires?
Just some far off project... ... ...
maybe i'm a tad slow
why're y'all goin w/ 235 instead of 225? all the threads say not to biggie size your tires on the stock rims (for those that have them), but also heard that you can put a 235 on it cuz the tires run narrow. what's the deal? help me out cuz i'm tryin like a madman to get outa my nittos and into some sports.

A. The sidewall is slightly taller. This should result in a better ride.
B. They should fill up the gap in the wheel well that the 225s leave.

First, lemme know if y'all have seen a forum that deals w/ this cuz to search thru all the forums'll take me forever and a day. So why can I run 235/50 and not 235/45? Seems to me like the widths are the same, (235mm which would imply the same rim width, right?? I'm a rookie so i may be wrong in guessing this but it seems like simple stuff to me. for y'all in charlotte, Merchant's said they have BUY 3 GET 1 FREE ON ALL TIRES until 8/2.
The critical issue is how the rim width affects the shape of the sidewall, and that involves sidewall height as well as section width. Shorter sidewalls generally result in more severe curvatures, and this is where things like fatigue life get involved.
Tight curvatures = more flexing = more severe fatigue effects = not good.
So, with its taller sidewall a 235/50 is apparently acceptable on a 7" wide rim where the 235/45 isn't. Lines have to be drawn somewhere.
It's unfortunate for many of us that the Max is simply one of those cars for which the OE tire and wheel combination was poorly chosen (from an enthusiast's point of view, anyway).
