Are O2 sensors covered under warranty?

My Service Engine Soon light came on at 58K and some change yesterday 1st thing in the morning. My first guess is that it is one of the O2 sensors that have gone bad. Seems like a lot of people had this light going on and I thought I was lucky...until now

I have an extended warranty due to my &*^%$# to Nissan about my noisy engine mounts...I looked at it the other day and I have a 6 year 100K warranty...I thought they said they were giving me a 6/72 but it sure as %^&* says on it 6/100K.

Anyhoo...I just sunk 450 into the Max for brakes and I'm also buying a house(bye bye Massachusetts, Hello NH)so as you can imagine the coin is tight......

If I do have to pay what am I looking at and what happens if I let it go for awhile?

Re: you can call with 'what-ifs'

Extended warranties have more exclusions than the base warranty and vary more than the original mfgr's warranty from dealer to dealer. It is probably covered under the original emmision warranty which runs for a longer period. Call the service dept ahead and ask, as mentioned above.

Have you had someone check it or are you just guessing that it is the o2 sensor? If it is the o2 sensor it should be covered by your extended warranty. The only charge if it is covered should be your deductible - if you have one- from your extended warranty. Hope this helps

O2s SHOULD be covered under emissions warranty. MOST cars today are 10year/100k miles - not sure if our's is, but it SHOULD be. Emissions is a totally different game.

I just read in the manual that the emissions stuff is covered to eith 36k or 50k (going from memory here) so I'm SOL as I'm just about to turn 60k

Once I move to NH and get some more $$ in my pocket (house buying saps your working capital) I'll get it checked out.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong ....maybe the extended warranty will cover some of the emmissions parts...I need to check that out I guess

Still Call

My 99 is well over 36K and had the last sensor replace no questions asked. But my 01 AE has about 13K and has had 3 of them replaced. Service guy said the 01 has four. I take both cars in for the oil changes, so they see me alot. I just call, tell them what the problem is and they fix it. There is an extended warranty on both, but not through Nissan. Also, I've never had to pay either.
