Against Kevin's advice on the tire issue, I went with
BF Goodrich Comp T/A KDW-S (live in Colorado).
BIG IMPROVEMENT IN RIDE, CORNERING, ACCELERATION, and WET DRIVING CONDITIONS... To be safe, I rotate my tires every 2000( free from the dealer I bought my tires from) miles and got an alignment done (after my Eiback springs, Focal F-10 Rims 17x7, and Stillen front/rear bars installed). I recently drove from Colorado Springs to Phoenix and conclude this: It's a touchy issue and I took a chance against Manufacturer's specs; I feel I won out on this issue.
The drive was great, especially in New Mexico encountering corners in the valley during a thunderstorm
Seriously consider an alternative to the MICHELIN SPORT TIRES (BF GOODRICH and MICHELIN are ONE COMPANY!)and cost considerably less!

good find on the kdws. i've got on the kdw with no problems or complaints. i'm in so cal so no snowy conditions for me.

if it weren't for the non-aggresive looking tread it would do a whole lot better. but overall i think the g-force line is overlooked.

I just got a quote from America's Tire Co. for $120 a tire for the T/As. That was mounted and balanced price.

rwbro719, I just installed the same tires on my 2000 se. I've only had them on for a week but so far they seem to be fine. Did they have a hard time getting them on your rims and and getting them to hold air? They had a hard time getting the bead to seat on mine. They haven't lost any air since so I guess they must be o.k.

Smokedford is about right if you shop around....
I paid $127/tire mounted and balanced. These tires are not very common so most dealers will have to order them from distrubution (usuall 2-3 days). What impressed me the most was that they stick much better than the factory potenzas and hold a 400 rating treadwear as opposed to 150-175 from bridgestone!
Installation took about an hour (during a busy time of day).
If you buy them, please let me know of your findings...

Check out the TireRack. I got them for $105 per tire. I installed BFG KDWS 225/55 ZR16s on the 5 spoke rim, 6.5" rim.

If I am not mistaken, I believe that the 235/50 will work better on the 6 spoke 7" SE rim since it is slightly taller. Please correct me if I am wrong.

You are correct, johnny2kgle. The 235/50R17 tire is in-spec on a 7.0" wide rim. The 235/45R17 tire is out-of-spec on a 7.0" wide rim. I just bought 4 Pirelli P6000 225/50/17 from www.Treadepot.com. I am waiting for the next service to have them installed. This is the only dealer I found selling these tires in this size. They are summer tires with good reviews other than they don't last too long (by a looks of the tread depth I believe it). I will pass along feedback in a month or so.
