320 HP Maxima
I stopped by the local Nissan dealership earlier today to check out the new titanuim edition maximas. BTW I love the TE rims , but anyway I get approached by the sales woman. She tells me that I need to buy the TE Max because it is the last one with the 255hp engine in it. I'm said really are they coming out with something new for '04 and she says, no the new '03's will be on our next truck in a month.
I said what makes them so diff from the TE '03's and she says:
"They will either have the 280hp v6 from the 350Z, or they will have the v8 from the Q45 with 320 hp"
It was all I could do to keep from laughing, but maybe I am wrong, has anybody heard about this.

OK guys, don't mean to be a jerk about this, but when was the last time you went to a dealer and the sales person knew what they were talking about? Most of them don't even know the current product line they are selling, let alone something they have no contact with. I've seen so many threads around here with people thinking their dealer has the inside scoop with Nissan, like Japan is calling here telling them everything. Come on guys if there was any truth to anything it would have been published by now, it hasn't so there ain't. Sure it's fun to speculate, but don't take a dime of it to the bank.
Ok off my soap box, that ones been brewing for a while.

Here it is for everybody:
Murano - VQ engine (V6 if you didn't already know); no definitive numbers on hp
03 Maxima - VQ; FWD; maybe a few more horses but very similar to 02
04 Maxima - VQ no V8! will probably be released early to mid 2003 for 04 model year
FX45 - infiniti's Murano; this will probably end up with the 4.5L engine
Full size truck - will end up with 4.5L also
350Z - this is probably the VQ engine that will be tuned to the most hp; I doubt the G35 couple will have more
I'm telling you, VQ is the golden boy of Nissan right now. Oddly enough I think they're even using it in the GT cars now (like the Calsonic and Nismo Skyline GTRs)

please god, bless us with the gift of a RWD Maxima...
what I heard from my dealer is that the Maxima is going to be the Nissan luxury equivilant to the Q45 and maybe get a different body style, while the Altima is gonna become the new sporty full size car that the Maxima is now. But thats just foresay, so your guess is as good as mine...

When I bought my Max, salesman told me that it had lots of add ons. He said, this car had a sunroof installed, I mentioned it comes from factory, he advised well it has a really nice Bose system, I mentioned that that was part of a package, he mentioned 17' wheels, I again mentioned that they were stock, as well as the spoiler an sport suspension. He than asked what I did for a living. I replied that I logged on to the internet on a daily basis and chatted with you guys. He was dumbfounded and told me that I evidently knew alot obout cars(LOL). Car salespersons are some of the most lame dumbasses you will ever meet.

This guy must be new, or a total idiot (actually, that's not necessarily exclusive.)

"The Nissan Murano, with its dramatic exterior and interior styling and advanced drivetrain - including the first North American standard application of Nissan's Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) - was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show"
It's a CVT. BMW and Mercedes are just getting to 6 speeds conventional autos. Besides Nissan wouldn't leap frog it's own Infiniti brand to use a conventional 7 Speed in an SUV.

If any of you are seriously considering anything you hear at the dealership to be even remotely close to accurate, you need to have your head examined. Most salesmen/saleswomen are smart enough to shut up once I start talking because they know they are likely far less informed than somebody who pays attention in class.
Happened to me last week when I test drove that G35. The guy quickly figured out that he shouldn't be spurting out any information that he wasn't 100% sure of. Speak when spoken to and you might get a sale. Open your big mouth and you'll probably still hear me laughing when I get home.
Although, I'll admit...it is pretty funny when a dealer starts spewing out information that came from some cartoon where dreams are reality. No, really...next year's Honda Civic is going to come stock with the NSX-T's engine. It will be called the Civic Type-S and come stock with lots of Mugen and Comptech stickers.

Yeah, I remember when my sales guy pulled my new '96 Stang GT around... "Now be careful, this baby has 270 horsepower!"
(He obviously had some info on the 2000+ Stangs 4 years ahead of time and just got confused)

here we go again...
more stories of car sales people talkin BS.... I think they are just good for yanking the chains on for a test drive... Just goes to show how uneducated or unintelligent some people are...
"speak when spoken to" is a good philosophy that any good or intelligent car sales people should practice no matter if they have a lot of good or otherwise crappy knowledge of the vehicles they sell.
I have never seen or met a car sales person that knew more about the cars than I did. It is quite disturbing yet it is reality...

Ever met a sales rep from a major application vendor like Adobe that knows more about Photoshop than a graphics designer? Ever met a BBQ salesman at Sears who knows more about making good brisket than Gene Porter?
Sales people are not expected to be the expert in their product...they are expected to know how to sell their product...which does not generally require expertise. They will learn just enough to sell a car...why waste their time learning?

The guy at the Nissan display at Hot Import Nights in georgia didn't know crap about the car(Sentra SE-R Spec V) besides the fact that it was red and had nice wheels....WTF?.
Maybe, I should work out and then find a job at Nissan; They need me.
