Please help me with some facts!
What motor is in a 2000 maxima ?
What is the difference is there between a 99 and 2000 motor?
Is there a vq30 engine? If so what's so special?
Has anyone put a vg30 dett in a maxima?

VQ30 is in 2000
VQ35 is in 2002
no real difference between 99 and 2000, has differeent intake and exhaust and something else

There is almost no way to put a VG30DETT in a maxima, cuz it's rear wheel drive

 

VQ30 in both. Check out the freshalloy engine matrix here for more info on Nissan engines. I remember reading a site years ago by a guy who put a twin-turbo Z engine in his 2nd-gen Max. Don't know if it still exists. He had to fab quite a bit.

 

the 99 has the vq30de, rated to 190hp. its better on the low end but doesn't breathe well up top.

the 00-01 has the vq30de-k, rated to 222hp. little boggy down low but has a killer mid and upper range.

the 02+ has the vq35de, rated to 255hp. apparently it has awesome low, middle, and top end. though its top end isn't quite as good as the 00-01s...

the 04+ are going to get a flux capacitor v8 that will supposedly be rated at 340hp... but thats just rumor...

 

Yeah, the VQ35DE has a killer low and mid range, but towards the very top it runs a little flat. Consider it the middle ground between the VQ30 4th gens and VQ30 5th gens.
