Reserve and Tank Capacity

Hi Everyone,

I've noticed that my tank is supposed to be 70 L in size, however, when I drive until my DTE shows about 50km (30 miles) left a refill only takes 56 L or so.

What gives? Is the indicator and the computer wrong? Can it be recalibrated, or am I supposed to have ~13-14 L reserve?

thanks,

Marco

A number of us south of the border here haver noticed a 4+ gallon supply left in the tank even with the fuel light having just come on (this of course is for non-Navi/comp cars). Since 14 l = 3.64 gallons, I would say you are on par with what others have been showing.

Re: Re: Reserve and Tank Capacity

Thanks JJS!!!

Hmmmm,

Does that mean it's normal and can't be changed, or is there something I can do to fix it? DTE is really only useful if it's even remotely close. Presently, my reserve is 25% of the size of my "effective" tank.

Thanks,

Marco

Not sure about recalibrating...might need to 'adjust' a sensor/float in the tank to show less remaining fuel.

Either that or just get used to mentally keeping track of DTE and disregard the unit...until it reads like 2 miles left...then you can hopefully still count on another few liters of gas when you need it.

There is 68.3L in my 2K tank. Trust me, I know.

When the idiot light comes on there still is 100-120KM in the tank, easy 150 if you baby it.
