HID's stolen

Had my headlights stolen last week in the Bronx. Ive been reading about all the lights that have been stolen. This is ****ing me off. Ive been reading about the different ways thieves have been taking the lights. I personally dont think those security bolts will work. The way my lights were taken im sure only took them a few minutes if that. They must of slid some kind of tool in the gap between the hood and the headlight and just cut the plastic brackets that keep the headlight in place. They then yanked out the light and cut the wires. I must admit it was a pretty clean job. There was a acura parked by my car too, yup his lights were gone too. When i went to Nissan they told me i was the 10th one this month. What really ****es me off is that i know this will happen again and again.
Anyone have any good ideas on how to prevent this? If this happens again i think im gonna sell my MAX. Sorry i think i just needed to vent.

Is there a way to fab the plactic brackets out of billet aluminum then fasten them w/ Tim's fasteners? The broken bracket thing seems to repeat over and over.

Where do you leave your car? Do you park on the street, in a garage, in a driveway? You may want to consider a parking garage that has surveilance or a security gaurd. You will have to pay, but it will be worth it!

well...

I agree.. the bolts alone wont help alot in NYC. NYC is crazy.. All I can tell you is if you want to make sure they cant unbolt them, this will work. The special tool is new to me. Again, I am amazed at their ingenuity. I suspect they would just blow torch your front cap off if we really came up with good countermeasures.

that's a good idea. Get Jesse James to do it and include that cool maltice cross. Would even dress up the engine compartment. Any machinists in the crowd?

This NYC theft thing is getting stupid. It would seem like a no-brainer for cops to grab a few car thiefs just by parking Maxima's around the city. How sad is it that a $30K family car seems to be the ideal bait for thiefs in NYC.

I said cops wanna go catch the big fish....as long as you have insurance, they dun really care. my house was broken into and 5000 dollars worth of stuff was stolen, the cops just show up for the police report and told us that we are the 12th houses this year. That was 2 years ago, never heard a word about it right after the cops step out of my house.

Hey Storm...

Good luck with getting new lights. It has been 2.5 weeks for me and i still don't have new lights. If your leasing they make it a hassle to cash the insurance check...unless you have the $3200(for both lights and harness)to front the money. I feel your pain

Just wait, it will get worse. Insurance companies will start raising their premiums on 2k2s because of the higher theft costs. It will start in larger cities(NYC) and progress around the rest of the country.

Bigger fish...like people going 75 in a 60 zone? Or people who do the "California" stop. Or people who do an illegal U-Turn?
