well...

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=137732

I'm inches away from finalizing this deal for myself.. I know some others are thinking about it too. Aleady established: this price is great, the vendor is rated highly, installing all the features is a monster (as it has autostart built in if you choose to use it).

I have some general information about wire colors and such. I think I would pay an installer to do a write up for us 5th genners. Anyone else in for springing for a few bucks to have someone who has done some maximas to really give us some good info on door locks and (maybe) autostart?

i recently had the autopage installed. it's pretty damn cool. the range isn't what i thought it would be, but it is acceptable. is it worth having? for me, yes. i love toys and i'm not the most practical person . some people cannot justify paying $1200 for a 36" flatscreen television... im not one of these people. i buy stuff like this... it's a disease. but yeah, can any of us really say we NEED this type of security? maybe if you have $5000 worth of audio/visual equipment in your car. the whole LCD pager thing was originally for fleet vehicles. delivery trucks/vans that needed the security, etc. if you're into having cool stuff, you'll love it.

it'll be a great addition to your toybox.

all I can say is - if I could, then I would - I love my car, but living in nyc is making me paranoid as heck... I really want to get a pager system, I just don't know what kind I should invest in. I'm not too crazy about investing in a LOT of $$ - although I know that it's worth it...I just want to be assured when I shop and when the car is in the 50-vehicle capacity garage~

bottom line..

this Autopage thing is about the best *value* right now. You can get it turn-key with base features for less than $450, maybe even less.

Got some cash, want something top end, best you can buy, drop some money on the Clifford.

If you want to wait a few months, DEI might have a viper out to rival this Autopage. Will be somewhere in the $400-500 range installed I would think.

i know auto-start is an option that people really want - but since I park in the garage and stuff, I don't see it as a necessity - So I figure without that option, it should shave off a good amount of $$ of the full price... before I saw these posts about the Autopage, I was very close to purchasing the Millenium SF Pager - but I guess it's considered crap next to this system?

well..

I cant compare them for you. so service should be the deciding factor. Good shop? Good warranty? Good price? If they stand behind it, get it. You cant lose. if its crap, they will make it right. thats what matters.

questionable shop, unknown brand - then you should keep shopping.

If only there were some way to use it with an existing regular pager. I don't want anything else to carry around. A cell phone and a pager is enough.

and only if people wouldnt steal cars too... it would be quite ideal if we could use it w/ our cells or exisitng pagers - i'm sure if you have a hacker-friend, there is a way to program pagers to do all this..
