Nissan's crapa-- paint/primer techniques? Need advice..
Hi everyone, I have a problem with the paint on my 2K SE, and now it's been passed along to my father's 2K GXE...
Something rubbed very gently against my dad's GXE the other day accross most of the rear bumper : a horizonal line maybe a 5th of an inch in thickness all the way accross from the left to the right side of the bumper.
I thought I'd bring it by my friend's detailing shop and have it buffed out as it wasn't deep at all.
So my friend gets down to it; squirts some of the famous buffing doo and starts to gently buff it off.. he just passes over a small area once, and we see a large black dot - some paint got taken right off! No primer, nothing can be seen but a very thin layer of paint surrounding this black splotch. We look around the bumper and find the paint cracking/crisping up in two other spots - virtually untouched yet by the buffer.. there's no way in hell the buffer could have taken the paint off with one pass, especially considering the darned thing barely touched the surface of the bumper in the first place.. it couldn't have been burned off... My SE has a huge black gap on the passenger side where the bumper meets the frame of the car - also losing paint. Has anybody else (maybe Silvermist like both our cars) had this ever happen to their max's?
Doesn't Nissan use primer on their bumpers/plastic panels (I'm not autobody savvy so pardon me if this sounds like a stupid question). Suffice it to say, I'm ****ed, and it looks like somebody may have taken the bumper off now that we look at it; the clips look like they've been tampered with... the car was bought new 2 years ago and is driven by my father maybe 8k a year (I had to break it in myself).
If anyone's had issues like this let me know please - I'm wondering if this is the extent to which Nissan wants to go with their crapa$$ discount paint quality
My hood/front bumper look like they've gone through WWIII; I wouldn't be surprised if this is another result of Nissan's crappy factory painting work.
Thx,
Jer
