H&R's Installed wicked vibration when accelerating
H&R's Installed wicked vibration when accelerating
Hey I finally got those H&R's installed from the Avalon GD. Drove the car out of the shop however I drove home thru back roads not exceeding 40mph. The car felt fine looks great. This morning on my way to work on the highway I noticed that the car was vibrating alot during exceleration. I won't be able to bring it back to the shop til Fri. any hints as to this problem? Will I seriously damage the car if I continue to drive it? The car coasts fine only during speed up. Some say that you need an alignment after springs seatle, others have no problem whatsoever. I'm worried that if I bring the car to the dealer he my void warranty due to all the mods. Any insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Also I'll do a search on this when I have the time. Thanks
Try the basics first...>
Try the simple things first before thinking worst case. Make sure you wheel lugs are tight. If the wheel lugs are fine then open the hood and make sure the nuts on the shock tower nuts are tight. There is a nut in the center of the shock tower nuts that also should be very tight. If any of these items are hand tightened and not torqued properly it will cause noise and vibration.
Vibration during excelaration
Well I just found out what caused this vibration when I was excelerating. Turns out that the people who installed my springs did not put my axle back on properly. It ruined the drive shaft which now needs to be replaced at a cost of over $400. They said I was lucky it didn't fall off while I was driving. $100 install $400 fix. I wish these guys would check their work more thoughly, this could have been a major mishap. Lets see if they honor the fix. Just so happens the car died in front of a Mitsubishi dealer; a friend of mine is the GM their.
CJ regardless of the Drive axel problem.
Get the car aligned to prevent tire wear caused by lowering the car. I have heard of others on the board that waited too late and because of the severe tire wear had to buy new tires.
No need to cause even more problems on top of the whole drive axel replacement. Lower the car properly the first time to prevent heard aches later.
Who lowered your car by the way so that others won't get screwed?

Have you told the installers they screwed up? Do they have any kind of warranty?

What do you mean, they didn't put the axle back on properly? Why would they have to do remove the axle for the spring install?

How did they ruin it...something sounds fishy...you might want to keep an eye on the car while a reputable mechanic gives it the once over. I'm assuming there was NO vibration before the install so something must have been done wrong, I'm just not understanding how the axle was involved. Good luck either way!

Bad news, Install screw-up
Well guys here it is. I was told that the place who did the install was at fault. First off The right side axle went bad, then the left side cv boot was ripped. I my be explaining this wrong due to the fact that I'm beyond ****ed. I told the shop that it was their doing and they told me that they were not familiar with H&R's and that I didn't purchase the springs from them so therefore there not lible. Yea right; $1500 damage later. Speed shop my a#%%. I had to cash in on a few favors from a couple of car dealer friends. Axle covered thru warranty, CV boot not, $240 out of pocket not bad. It still su%ks
but I consider myself lucky. I do a lot of highway driving lucky car didn't fail on the way to work. Still waiting for parts from dealer. I drove in with all my mods and nothing said about them, only that I'm lucky to have a friend in the business. Without my ride for a week now. Let you know what happens when car rolls out of dealer. I'm afraid they will tell me not to bring the car back like that again. W'ell see.

was this the front axle or rear axle, because i had my maxspeeds installed about 2 months ago and when im accelerating hard, it feels like the rear is i hear a bouncing type noise coming from the rear, almost like a rattling.
maybe the shop loosened a bolt holding the axle in place thinking it was a bolt for the suspension
i still think they should be held liable. even if they are no familiar with it, they willingly took the job. try to get them to pay for the $240 CV boot.

first off...post the name of this shop so nobody goes there....
second off-- i hope u have a receipt for the job they did, if so go pay an attorney to write that shop a letter to pay it otherwise court action will be looked that....most the time that scares 'em

Dealer saves the Day.
Well finaly, I got my car back in one piece from the dealer. H&R's are still on with all the mods included, nothing said. I also noticed some other Maxs there with mods, so no problem as far as mods are concerned at this dealer. Freehold Nissan did a great job with the repairs. New axle covered under waranty, CV boot not. The guy at the speed shop paid for the cost of the boot and my car rental for the week. After declining to take responsibility, I guess $400 dollars was better than $1500. A lessoned learned here; I took it for granted that it was an easy install due to the fact that many people do the install right in there driveways. I assumed that it would be an easy job especially for a "SPEED SHOP". I learned to ask specific questions and not assume. Disaster averted due to a few connections. I don't want to rip this guy on a public forum however when I walked in today he took out his check book no questions asked and gave me a check. If you guys want to know PM me and I will give you the shop name. It's in Englishtown NJ, near the Track off of RT 527. The guy was straight forward somewhat. The car handles great but not like stock like everyone states. The car is somewhat smooth like stock but very bumpy and low to the ground. You can feel every bump now. Not bad though, this is the price you pay for performance and style. When the new shocks come out next year I will upgrade and see if this helps smooth out those bumps. If not I'll get used to the new feel.
