Question about siren hook up.

Hello All,

I did search the forum but I couldn’t find any useful information on 5th gen. Is it possible to install a siren for factory security system so that when you arm the system you hear siren chirp instead of horn honk. Thanks in advance.

Not sure about a chirp but you can turn the sound completely off by following the instructions on the back of the key fob.

It depends on what are you trying to achieve. If you just don't like horn honk when you're arming system - there'is instruction on the back of a fob as already said. If you want completely different sound from alarm system altogether - it can be theoretically done if you're good with simple electronics or someone here'd make detailed writeup. Problem is that stock system has only one output for horn signal. It makes short pulse when you're arming the system (or none in different mode) and pulse series when someone brakes into the car. Yes, those pulses can be distinguished by length but it requires some simple electronics. Probably not worth a hassle in compare with full-blown aftermarket system.

There has got to be someplace where the alarm unit output merges into the wiring of the horn switch (that is on your steering wheel). Just splice a siren behind that merge and you should be good to go. You need a wiring diagram.

Yeah, right - then he'll have short siren sound, not "chirp" when arming the system since it uses very same output for this remind signal and the main one. Is it what he was asking about?
