New Project Eibachs + Progress + AGX Setup

Well i was unable to locate a set of 4th Gen Eibachs when i wanted them, they were on back order and i can't wait longer, so i got a set of 4th Gen Progress springs.

Here is my new setup below and it handles and performs very good with my new AT INOX 18 X 8 with summutomo HTR+ from tirerack.

front = 5th Gen Eibachs with 4th Gen KYB AGX/cattman (settings = # 2)
rear = 4th Gen Progress with 4th gen KYB AGX/cattman(settings = # 4)

these settings give my car a smooth ride and my new 18 X 8 is not harsh at all.

Thanks for all the ideas from maxima.org, especially ru4real with progress setup, but using 2 different springs was something i wanted to experiment with, since the rear fitted with no problems. My wheel alignmemt did not go bad and my car drives straight so far.

congrats on the install! does the rear looks a bit lower than the front?

yeah the progress is very stiff in the rear(not sure about the spring rate difference tho). i went on a long trip to canada this weekend and # 4 settings was a little too stiff in rear , i changed it to # 3 and the passengers in the back felt a smoother ride, meanwhile i still have it on # 2 settings in the front.

Do you have pics? I checked out your homepage. Oh, and how did you manage to purchase just the fronts and just the rears?

Is this it? That's like a 4 inch drop!!!!

Or is this it? What springs are in this pic?

Please help! I'm probably buying the Sprints tomorrow....... 2 inch all the way around.

they do not sell just the front of rear springs, you have to buy them all. Progress was $150 shipped and i had my Eibachs a long some time ago.

Okay, I need lots and lots of info. I tried to PM you but your mailbox was full.

1. Why did you decide to go with a 4th gen setup?
2. How were you able to buy two different sets of springs? Did you have to throw away the front progress and the rear eibachs?
3. Where did you get them?
4. How much total is the drop on a 5th gen? Front and rear?

Ok no problem bro.

1. I decided to do this rear setup, because the 5th Gen Eibachs would not fit the rear AGX firmly. The only way it would, is if you take it to a shop and have them compress the spring tightly onto the agx spring seat. I don't wanna do anything too tight, which can break in the future. I did intall this before and few problems. Do a search on AGX intall dramma. i have a write up there

2. I had Eibachs that i had since before my 2000 maxima crashed. I had took them out from my car and had replaced then with H & R. My car crashed with H & R and Tokicos so these Eibachs was setting in my garage until i bought my 2001 , then i used them again. Well they are the same price as on tirerack.com ..like $230 or something like that. These progress springs , i had to buy the complete set, just to get the rears. with help from RU4REAL and others, they told me about PMPDESIGNS.COM. they are $150 shipped.

3. As of now one finger in the rear and 1.5 finger in the front. and they are not fully settled yet, meaning it will drop more. also note that the lenght of the shock/struts body of the agx is shorter so this cause your spring to go lower...people askign me everyday if i have coilovers...

Crap. Well, I don't want to shell out $150 plus $150 for springs. I'll probably just go with the 5th gen Progress or Sprint then... Those will work, right?

Huh? Wouldn't that be a good thing if they had the sam part number because it is the same thing that you used??

ok if this is all true, it would not be a good thing, because if you wanna use 4th gen shocks---no prob, but if you wanna use 5th gen shocks you may end up in some probs.. but then again this is what pmpdesings said about the part #. the truth will have to come from progress itself

Wait...shocks? Like, struts? I already have the 4th gen KYB AGX's on. I need new springs. So if I have 4th gen KYB AGX's, then it WILL work with 5th gen Progress...right?

My understanding is that Progress does not have a 5th gen spring, they just carried over the 4th gen version. Thus they will fit your 4th gen AGXx perfectly.
