Sunroof shade rattle
Sunroof shade rattle
When the sunroof is covered entirely with the sliding shade, I'm getting this annoying faint rattle sound. Doesn't happen when the shade is open (sunroof closed, but shade retracted). I dropped off the car at the dealer last nite, and today, they give it back saying the is no cause or replication of the sunroof noise. They must be deaf or something, @ 40+ mph on normal roads, it rattles.
Is there a DIY fix to this? I'm already starting to get annoyed by the service at this dealer.
Btw. I don't have any aftermarket audio components nor do I have the Bose system.

Any updates on this? I have the same problem, and it is very noticeable and annoying. I can duplicate the rattle noise without driving by simply closing the drivers door. I am in dealer avoidance mode, I can't keep sitting around that place for hours waiting for the shuttle to take me to work, etc.
Re: Sunroof shade rattle
I've got that rattle too. Like the thread indicates, only when the shade is closed. Mine occurs at the left front portion of the shade. The shade seems to vibrate against the track when going over rough roads. I'm going to attempt a fix myself so I don't have to bother with the dealership.
I'll keep you posted.

Thanks guys, ever since this was posted I started noticing it in mine. Either it just started or I was partially deaf and just regained my hearing. In any case I got mine to stop rattling it I poped the sunroof just a bit. Not slide it back, but pop it up. I did it with the shade closed and it went away, as soon as I closed the roof it started again.
Any one else find anything?

FIXED MY SUNROOF SHADE RATTLE
Okay, here is what I did. When closed, my sunshade rattles at the two forward corners where the sunshade rests on the top lip of the headliner. Today, I went to the local arts & crafts store and bought self-adhesive felt. I custom cut and applied the felt to where the sunshade rests on the headliner and viola, no more rattles. . .well at least for now.
