Is that why they removed all the window glass and replaced it with 1 inch polycarbonate on the 2K2s?

Its missing for the most obvious reason of all. Cost cutting!

It doesn't cost much to put in one more lock but when you remove then from all the passenger doors on all the Maximas, Altimas (my 02 doesn't have one either) and any other modesl they eliminated it from the savings add up to the hundreds of thousands of dollars, which helps put Nissan back in the black.

Audi has been doing it also for the past couple years. Cost cutting exercise.

I agree with the above opinion about the cost cutting strategy of not having the door lock. I don't think it has anything to do with security. If someone wants in, they will get in regardless of the keyhole.

If they save 1 dollar on 500k vehicles/year........

What were they thinking?
They need to remove the trunk/drivers door/ignition keyholes too
Keys are old school. Its about time that they get replaced.

Maybe Nissan will shave the door handles next...
