1/4 Times, Automatic vs. Manual
1/4 Times, Automatic vs. Manual
It's been awhile since I've posted here. The 0.9% finaning (<47months) on 02 and 03 Maximas has me interested in one. What are typical "fastest" times people are seeing from Automatic and Manual versions of the car. When the 02s were comming out I was hearing ~14.3 for Manuals and ~14.5 for Automatics. I wasn't that happy with the feel of 6-sp in the last 02 I drove, I think I would rather have the same cost auto for only a .2s difference if thats still the case.
Re: 1/4 Times, Automatic vs. Manual
i'm pretty sure the auto's are only capable of high 14's. i've seen 14.7's as the fastest i think. it's just so much more fun driving a stick though!
unless ur stuck in city traffic...

From what I have read the past 6 months...
The 14.7 range for the auto's is very rare and can only be accomplished in perfect conditions. On the other hand, the low 14.x times for the manual are consistent across the board. Match that with the overall fun of driving a manual and I think it's a no brainer...

Agreed. Get the manual for the sake of "enjoying the drive". Your not going to be doing 1/4's the majority of the time you're driving the car. IF there's not much diff b/w the times, go for the 6M, IMO.

I'll hate to say it but Nissan's manuals have never been on par with BMW, VW and even Honda. I've had 5 Nissans with manual trannys and they all take getting used to. Adding Redline MT90 helps somewhat but you can't do much about the "rubberness".

If I wanted a manual, I'd get a real sports car I guess. Sad fact is I can't drive manual with a reconstructed left ankle, can't feel a thing so I shift like a 80 year old woman. That said, I dig the auto and enjoy rollin without having to shift in city traffic all day. Too much effort and no payoff.
