Insurance
Insurance
I need my insurance to go down so i could afford a 2k3. I have family and friends in Georgia, florida, louisiana, and Texas. Which state should i get the car registered in so i could get cheaper insurance????
Age? Record?
I live in GA and only have 1 ticket in the last 3 years and no wrecks in that time. I am getting ripped, but I am 24 and that comes with the territory. My little story: When I moved out of the house I had been on my parents Allstate, which they had been on over 30 YEARS. I talked to the agent about insuring the Max (I was 23 at the time) and she quoted me $500 PER MONTH with a $1000 deductible. Came up with some thing about how expensive Maximas are to repair. I was quite rude and told her where she could stick her insurance rate, since my car payment is about $500 I could in theory just go and buy a replacement car for that cost and put it in a garage. Unfortunately, State Farm would not take me due to my non-spotless record, Geico wanted the same $500 per month, so I went with Progressive at $230 per month.
At this point I am of the opinion that in states that are very harsh on every one having car insurance, the companies have you buy the short and curlies.
I sometimes wish that the insurance companies would screw up the records and think me female. I have a female co-worker with a Red Mustang GT who had been paying $130 a month with State Farm and now that she turned 25 it went to $80 per month.
I detect a double standard.

Good luck on your search. The best advice I can give you is to do some phone work and start making calls.

i have a 2k2. im 18, and my insurance from state farm is about 900 per 6 months, 500 decuctable. the only reason this is possible is due to the fact that im registered in gainesville florida, where i go to college. down in south florida my insurance was about 1800 per 6 months.

It depends where they live in those states. If they live in the city then it will be high, but if they live in the country it will be cheaper.

Man! I wish I could have afforded a Maxima when I was 19!!
A word of advice about the insurance, too. It will be higher where there is more possibility for what they call "Acts of God". As an example, I moved from the Washington DC metro area to Omaha, Nebraska. After moving, I figured my insurance would go WAY down. I was sorely mistaken. It actually went up. The claim was that more cars here suffered from hail damage, hence the increase in the premium.

I have one thing to say: insurance companies s_ck! It doesn't matter what age you are, driving history, location, etc.; they will always find a way to f-you. I have been driving for about 10 years now and my insurance policy (liability part) has changed very little. Went down about 10% over a 10 year period! I have no accidents or claims ever. I always take those stupid training courses to lower my liability. I was feed all this propaganda on "when you are 25 it will lower." When I turned 25, my agent told me the miracle age is now 29! Part of the reason is I live in NYC but friends outside city endure similiar nonsense. If I had the choice, I would not even bother with insurance period!

LOL...you're best bet is to try and convince the insurance company that you're female. It is so ridiculous, my sister, who just turned 16 a week ago, has a restricted juvenile license, no discounts, is the primary driver on my Infinti (practically brand new) and it's like $700 every 6 months.
ME, having had a clean record for 2 years, good grades discount, and a driver's ed discount I have to be principal driver on a 5 year old Chevy Lumina (120k miles even!) JUST to get my insurance down to $800 every six months.
Something's f***ed up.
