Brake upgrades - this works and it's cheap

Brake upgrades - this works and it's cheap
We all know how sh!tty the brakes are on our Maximas. The problem with mine was that the front rotors were heating up too fast and not cooling down fast enough. Thus my pads would glaze and fade was REALLY bad after driving hard.
Today I installed a set of Performance Friction Carbon Metalic pads and the brakes feel MUCH better. The harder you push them, the more they want to bite. Even if your brake pads still have life on them, trash them, they are no good. Mine had over 50% life left on them, now they're in the trash. They should cost you less than $40 for a set.
Brake history:
11,000 New rotors (Nissan)
14,000 New rotors and pads (Nissan)
28,000 same rotors, new pads - FEELS THE BEST

I spoke with Greddy on Friday. They do not have anymore 2000+ exhausts and they could not give me an ETA. ie it's gonna be a while.

http://www.5thgenmaximas.com/brakepad.html That is Russ's writeup. But it is easy, no need to bleed the lines or anything.

but it's also better to use this combination rather than just metalic pads...harder pads will cause premature wear on your stock rotors anywayz...
metalic pads+either slotted or cross drilled rotors(i'd personally recommend the slotted ones tho)+stainless steel brake lines

When you put in the new pads, you need to conditon the surface of the pads. First, take a sanding block and sand off any rought spots on the edges of the pads. Then, place a sheet of sand paper on a flat, smooth, hard surface. Place the pad on it and make some figure "8's". Sometimes the face of the pads are too rough and can cause uneven wear. A "brake spreader" will be a lot easier to use than the giant C-clamp that Russ uses in the write up.
Russ, if you are reading this, nice write up.
