I flew to Daytona this morning on a day trip and while down there we rented a Max-GLE w/ artic white color. While cruising the road we came to a blvd w/ three lanes. Behind us pulls up a Black CLK Renntech version (the first time I ever layed eyes on one, for $170,000) an on the other side pulls up a new yellow 911 with addenum on window. The light held for a while...suddently both cars started eching to go while revving the engines. This gave me the clue that both guys may have known each other. The driver of our maxima said he would floor it too, even with 4 people in the car...Then the moment of truth came. On a long straight away that had a curve to it, down by the daytona track, came the sound of burning tires as the two cars, including ours took off. I give him credit, the guy driving our car held a lead for about an eight of a second in the GLE...before all hell rushed past us. The sports car drivers must have been talking on cell phones to each other as the GLE took it brief lead because they shot past us like we never really left the red light. On down the road in the curve as we ended our little fling we could see the renntech with a good 2 to 3 car length lead on the porsche as they were well over 120mph or more an out of site and we were at about 85mph. Wow...Man is a brilliant designer...I never seen two cars pull away like that in person...A Kodack Video moment!!!! I'll treasure it.
