Re: Renault owns 40% of Nissan/Infiniti??

Yep, that's true. Renault owns a good chunk of Nissan, and their president, Carlos Ghosn, has been credited with turning things around for the company. Apparently, Nissan was in a big mess before he came around. So with lots and lots of cost-cutting, and a move to make their cars more sporty, Nissan is now doing much better.

Wow thats very interesting. I did not realise Renault had such a huge part in building back Nissan's success. Thanks very much for the info!

Yep...Nissan was on the verge of going BANKRUPT, until Ghosn and of course Renault came along. Nissan was a little over 2 billion dollars in debt. I think they broke even last year or this year, which is good.

Renault? They make crappy cars. How come the crappy car companies always end up buying the better ones?

With all the cheap and crappy parts they use on there cars, they save money. Then they wait for a company to hit rock bottom and then they buy into them. Look at Nissan now. :X Watch out for Kia and Daewoo. Damn little companies.

Renault apparently likes the VQ too...

They're using it in a few of their cars. I think one of them is called the Vel Satis.

I don't think you have to worry about Daewoo. They're about to stop selling cars in the US. That means no dealerships either...sucks for people who already bought em.
