NEED ADVICE: Considering 2K1 GXE

Hi. I'm new but you guys seemed like the best place for reliable answers.

I've found a very clean, straight, basically flawless 2K1 GXE Auto with 28000 miles, PW, PD, A/C, CD (not Bose), cruise, no moon roof, no rear deck spoiler, no leather. Dealer offered me to take it for $15,900.

That seemed pretty good but I left without commiting. You guys know this car better than I do. Whaddya think?

Thanks for any advice.

Mike

Automatic trans.

Wasn't sure if GXE's were offered in manuals so I wanted to be clear.

GXE's are the best bargains because you are getting the same engine as everyone else. when i purchased my 98 gxe back in '98, I didn't care about any options, so that's why i got it brand new for $18.5k. That price sounds good because I often see '98 and 99 SE's going for that price. You should jump on it.

Normally, I'd completely agree with you.

But, this car will be mostly for my wife and she doesn't know how to drive a manual so it's gotta be an auto on the next car. And I think it'll be a Maxima because the Camry and Accord are just too vanilla.

Plus, I'll buy an extended warranty so that should cover most of my problems, should they arise.

I sold my 2k GXE with 45,000 miles on it for $15K. Seems like a good deal to me and if it is just for the wifey then the standard GXE layout should be alright.

yeah, mine was suppose to be for my wife too. until i found this site and got bit by the mod bug!!!

i have a 2k1 gxe auto and it is fun to do all the mods yourself and save $$$. for ex. the spoiler would have cost 479 from a dealer, i installed a painted one for 207.

like it was said before, you get the same drivetrain. but now i am kicking myself for not getting the 2k2. but i was not buying it for me.

you will fall in love with this car and may regret not getting the se model or even the 2k2,6 speed!!!!!!!

my advice is to really think it over. if it is soley for your wife then that's a hell of a deal.
later,
kj

VERY GOOD POINT

If it is only for the wife and you only plan on driving it once a month (any more than that will make you a Max-addict), then I say go for it. But if it is a shared vehicle consider putting more money aside and going for a 2k2 SE.

i was looking at a similarcar as you.but it was a 2000 and they wanted 13900. so try to work it around low 15k. if you do, you wont regret it.
