Oh...I thought you were talking about the mirror side.
Like the turn arrows ">" on an SUV!

Are they sequential???

Yea some pics at night with no flash would be nice, but it looks good from what I can see. Are they always on or do they blink with the signals?

LOL...those pics are with them blinking...but the flash from the camera ruined it. I'm no pro to these digital cameras and trying to make it work last night was killer (my boss didn't even know how to work it!!) Anyways, here is the scoop, they are only on when the blinkers are on, they are not sequential. I will try again to take pics with no flash...if I can get the damn camera to work. So far so good with the feedback. The guys at work really liked them...and they even liked it more when they found out what the cost was...both sides for under $20 (canadian funds boys!!). But the pics do it no justice, they work awesome at night, even though they are not pointing straight out which would make them even brighter to the eye. That will be my next project, to make a proper line of sight for these LED's. Thanks for the comments.

I went to an electronic parts store, got some Superbright LED's, some resistors, some 18ga wire, some shrink tube and 5mm LED holders. I went home put them all together and voila. My idea came from the Varad LED displayers at the import stores (which by the way cost $16 x 8 = $128 here in Calgary). You can't see them during the day however once I get them pointed straight you will be able to. But at night its great.

If I were to do it all over, I would try the 3mm LED's (you could probably get 5 in a row). For the wiring you must get the blinker signal to the door and the to the mirror..that is no easy task by the way. I could have taken the signal from the blinker from the headlights and run the wire along the fender, but I choose to go the hard way. I got the signal from the dash. If you are squeemish at the site of cutting and splicing wires, do not do this mod!! And I am in no way an electrical GOD, but this mod took me 6 hrs for the first mirror and then 1.5hrs for the other.

The packaging on the LED's say they are 2.5mcd's...what ever that means. But what I can tell ya is that they are the same brightness as the Varad's...totally!

Nice....

Did you use a template to drill the holes evenly?

On a side note, you grill looks sharp! What did you use there? And how is it fastend?

Thanks!

Yah, i kinda used a template. You know how the shell of the mirror is painted which is connected to the black unpainted plastic? Well I took som masking tape a followed the joint between the painted and unpainted shell and then used a measuring tape to make sure that I got both sides with the same distances. One thing to remeber is keep an eye out for the inside of the shell, there are a few tab that hold the shell in place, do not drill through those! The grill is home doepot gutter grill with some plastic ties tying them down.

I like the blinkers, but I don't think i would attempt it myself.
i love the grill, and this is something I am going to do. Can you let me know what gutter grill you used, where, and how many tie-downs did you use? Are they just plain old zip ties?

Yeah, how did you do that grill? You must have had to use two pieces of gutter mesh, right? How did they meet up?

I checked out that link, but you never said how you traced the actual grill onto the cardboard.

Oops...what I did is basically put the cardboard up to the grill and started trimming until the cardboard fit in the opening...then I took that template and traced it onto the mesh...hope that helps

Yes, that helps, and also gives me an idea.
I think I'm going the tracing paper route with an exacto knife. Then proceed to the cardboard, and then the gutter guard.
I'll try and remember to take pics along the way.
