The lightened flywheel setup ( http://boostedmaximas.com/y2kevse/im...lywheel/02.jpg ) weighs about the same as the stock flywheel itself ( http://boostedmaximas.com/y2kevse/im...l/04_stock.jpg )

Thanks for the clutch, jhans114!

Yep, or at least it's in progress.

Sad thing is, he's going through all that trouble for the AE viscous limited slip differential INSTEAD of getting the Quaife.

Oh well, at least he's got something left to work on down the road.

You sneaky son of a gun!!!! Manual conversion huh? I knew you were going to do it though.... auto can only puts out so much power. Keep us posted on how the install goes. I still dont even have my SC back in yet but...I also have this same setup w/the quaife! I know you and I both cant wait to hit the dyno after all this stuff is installed! Good luck.

The clutch pedal is a little high, but I can live with it.

I can always put in the Quaife when the VLSD wears out.

Depends on what type of tranny want. A new VLSD tranny from DAVEB will run you a little over $1800. You can, however, get it cheaper if you can find one at junkyards.

Yes, but do you realize how much easier it will be to install with the tranny OUT. If your looking at replacing it later it's 10-14hrs. MINIMUM.

I'm betting it's less than 5 with the tranny out. I don't think you can do it without removing the tranny. However, it is an extra $1300 or whatever, so I understand.

I'm just betting the first time you ever try and dump the clutch with 300+hp and 275+tq, YOUR GOING TO OVERPOWER the LSD and it's not going to be pretty. It will still work, but viscous coupling is NOTHING compared to gear driven when your making MAJOR hp and especially tq.

I guess jahns114 or whoever would know.

Congrats on your conversion, Matt! Did you decide to remove the crankshaft spacer (you were referring to this when asking about the pilot bushing?)? How did you remove it in the end? Thanks.

Not done yet. The tranny needs to be swapped out and the shift assembly needs to be put on. Simple two step process, eh? Hehehe

I've seen full conversion deals go for anywhere between $200 to $1500 from junkyards (regular trannys). You just need to get lucky finding a place.

Thanks, Elbert.

Hehehe Daniel (mingo) wants to watch too. I want to try and do this by myself... The only thing Matthel and Daniel will need to do is call 911 when the tranny drops on me.

Sure An, you can come and watch too.

I totally agree with you, but another $1400 is a lot of bling bling. Besides, I don't trust myself opening up a brand spanking new tranny (yes, I know I can get one from a junkyard, but I would want a new tranny if the Quaife was going in).

Don't worry about the LSD being overpowered. The "soon to be" turbo lag should keep that to a minimum.

I placed the order around July 8th.

There were some problems with the turbo, so PFIspeed had to return it. I'm hoping to receive the kit soon after the tranny swap.

I'm going to dyno the 2.87" with the 5 speed in place before selling the SC.

Oh baby! Not that's going to be some nice comparison food for thought data.

Kev, what's the config T3/T4 hybrid? Any details?

Turbo TO4e from Turbonetics 60 trim.

T3/T4 would be more for street racing... but I do most of my stuff on the freeway, hence the larger compressor.

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=103611 Don't read the whole thread... I think it was over 400 posts the last time I checked.

Hey, you could sell your modded VB to someone here on the org. They'd be very lucky, since most of the companies that used to do it are no longer available. Who'd like to start the bidding at $500?

Once you get some runs in you can. Drag racing isnt that hard to learn. The more runs you get the with the manual the better you will become. The 60' time is the hardest thing to get right, but slicks will help

Hey An, looks like the tranny drop is scheduled for tonight. Give me a call when you see this..... or I'll call you in about 1/2 hour.

One person is on the waiting list for the SC (asked about a month ago), but I need to ask if he is still interested or not.

Does this Turbo-Kit have anything to do with the one that Greg at Custom Maxima is selling? It says on his site..."5th Gen model coming soon"... Is this an early version of that one or something different?

No prob Kev, good to hear that your swap went well. My new tranny should be here on Tuesday. Also I have the old tranny that comes with the VLSD and should be rebuildable if you know of anyone that is doing another swap. Peace

If I was to get the turbo since I have an auto would I need everything you need for a SC. EXP. VB mod, torque convertor, tran cooler.
No need for torque convertor.

Does this Turbo-Kit have anything to do with the one that Greg at Custom Maxima is selling? It says on his site..."5th Gen model coming soon"... Is this an early version of that one or something different?

Deac
Nope, nothing to do with Custommaxima.com. I'm actually going to use Nigel's (turbo97se) kit.
