Ok, remember when i posted that unplugging the battery will not work? Well, I was wrong.
I have had the same problem ever since I bought the car. THe lady who had the car before me did too. I have the estimate in front of me. $298.00
I went out, disconnected my battery, stepped on the brake, connected the battery, and the ****** fu##er works.
I am happy because my sunroof works.
I am pis$ed because those a-holes were going to charge me $298.00 for a new sunroof motor.
Do they NOT know to disconnect the battery, or are they just crooks?

The folks at Ford has no idea how to fix my wifes Sunroof so they were ready to install a new one at THEIR cost....I then found the reset instructions after reading about them on the .org on the 2K2's.Originally posted by jjames

I think these guys really dont "analyse" the problem. The "hear" they symptoms and then run through a check list. And if it doesnt throw a code...good luck!
Lets see what your long term results are of the battery disconnect....

True. However, I have a hard time believing that nobody in that service department knows about that fix. Originally posted by Colonel

It's like your computer. When you getr the B.S.O.D, you reboot. Same with the car. Sort of.

There is no telling how many sunroof motors Nissan has replaced that had nothing wrong with them.
I have seen a lot of people post this problem with their sunroof..and when you consider that only about 1% (or less) of Maxima owners EVER come to this site....then there is no telling how many people are actually having this problem.

Yea, seems like Nissan has made a ton of money...charge someone for the motor replacement...just unhook the battery after taking note of the unsuspecting customers radio settings...reconnect the battery and reset the stations...and then charge for a new motor and 4 hrs labor....for something that took 10 frikken minutes...what a forkin SCAM

Have you tried it yet?

A past client of mine works for our local Nissan dealer. I told him that I was a little po'd w/ his service department. I also told him that I could let it slide if they were really that stupid, but won't let it slide if they are trying to take advantage of me.
He told me to write them a letter. I am going there in person. I just have to see the look on their faces when I confront them.
