Even with my 245s on 18s I managed to bend the rim. I got it fixed, and I'm a lot more carefull now.
As for the size of the rim and tire, if I had to do it over again...
I'd do exactly what I picked the first time.
Good luck and enjoy.

looks like a redneck Tahoe I saw a couple days ago with 22" wheels and tiny tires...your tires look too narrow and with too little sidewall versus the size of the rim
And yes, you need to lower -now and badly...

18x8.5. What is the best offset and tire size?
I have just lowered my 2kSE (Eibach/Tokiko), want to put on some 18x8.5 wheels and shod them with 245/40/18's. Does anyone know if this setup will rub? What would be the lowest offset I could get away with. I know that on an 8" wheel the optimum offest is +38, which will push the wheel out an additional 3/4 of an inch. It looks as though the wheel can go out an additional inch from the stock location before it hits the fender lip. To get the same amount of outside lip on an 8.5 inch wheel, the correct offset would be 45. I however want to know, what can you get away with? A +38 on an 8.5 wheel will push the wheel out an additional 1" from stock. I would ultimately love to go with the +38 and a 245, on the 18 of course. Who can help?

Ride looks TIGHT. But the only concern now is why are people not being original any more? almost everyone is going for the same rims. Try to find something different
There are some other rims that look like EVO5s but are not EVO5s. But the ride looks TIGHT and you gotta lower it though ;-)
