Injen CAI question

Injen CAI question
I rode in Cutlr7's (Jason's) car last night to check out his new Injen CAI. It's nice, but it's hard for me to compare to my car because he has an automatic. What comments do you guys have about the Injen CAI and 5 speeds. I currently have a berk intake; what can I look to gain (besides a lighter wallet)?

NO, I don't know how much gain he got; does anyone else here have an Injen CAI that can testify?

Just LOOKs, Like 1-3 hp makes a big difference. wheater it is a berk or frankencar or stillen or injen... IT IS JUST AN INTAKE...
AN INTAKE IS AN INTAKE IS AN INTAKE... YOU ARE NOT GOING TO FEEL ANYDIFFERNCE.

These are just "butt dyno" observations though.

you guys aren't doing a good job of convincing me
why does everyone tried to make their own CAI if it isn't that good. So what's the difference between the Berk and the CAI....just 2 ponies?

Honestly there is noticable difference when approaching higher rpm's. I don't know if it's been dyno'ed yet (injen claims 13HP on the 6-speed, but some question this due to car being in 3rd during dyno) but I'd be willing to bet it's more than 1-3HP!

The splash guard does a great job. IT was dry as a bone down there. You'd need to submerge the filter before having to worry about water. If you do a search on CAI and issues, you should find a lot of info / opinions on it.

I have noticed a bit of a gain from the Berk intake you sold. It revvs up a bit happier, and I can still spin my 18" wheels from the stop. Of course, my car is manual...But the sound it makes ..priceless LOL

Unless, your hood is open and that 2 foot of snow is dumped in behind your radiator, you should be ok.
You'll bottom out before the snow becomes an issue. If you are really concerned get valence grills, so getting plowed in won't be a problem either.
Seriously, searching here and on max-world.org will find a lot of people who have posted pics and you can see where the filter sits. It's pretty well protected.

They say you can run these filters for thousands of miles.
I would recommend cleaning the filter in the spring and fall. I will be able to speak on more when I have had mine in for a couple months. I will pull it to see how it does.

I think its my best mod yet. Nothin but compliments on looks, great gains, sounds good. Water isnt an issue. Any 3" filter should work for this intake, I used a different filter than the injen one, cuz it was little. At least for my 2k auto it fit.

you know what scares me....?....when I'm looking at your post and someone at work walks by my desk.
From what I've read, there really is no way for water to get in there; I'd say you have the same chance of getting water in there as with a regular intake....slim to none! If you look at how it's setup, you'll see what I mean.

I've had my Injen for 1500 miles now. The filter is very clean and appears to be well out of harms way. I too was very concerned about possible water lock, but a search yeilded no results of this happening; either here or a few other forums.
That of course was 2 months ago, but hopefully it hasn't happened to anyone.

You don't need a deep socket for the MAF bolts per say, you could certainly use a regular wrench. Just follow the Injen instructions exactly and you will be all set! And treat the MAF sensor lightly.

Here is the Thermal Tape for the intake that has a velcro tab that holds it on.
http://store.summitracing.com/produc...earchType=ECat
It is pricey, but I think I am going to get it and see how it does on the Heat/power.

I have had my Injen for about 600 miles now on my '02 6-speed, and I think it is absolutely phenomenal. Consider a CAI where you don't have to dig into the fenderwell or cut any holes in your car, and it is MUCH quieter than even my Stillen high-flow (hot-air) intake was on my '99 Maxima.
The power improvement is VERY noticeable across the entire power-band. Granted I am still running stock rubber, but I find it difficult NOT to chirp the tires in 1st gear now, and I never seemed to have that "problem" before. Maybe my driving is just getting more aggressive, but I like to credit the CAI anyway!
I have a complete install guide for the Injen on my web site with lots of pics. Click on link at left.
