Well first of all, wouldn't a 2000 or 2001 Max be a better matchup for the IS300. And secondly, according to Lexus' website, the IS300 (5 speed auto) has a top speed of 141mph. So not only will you crush him up to 141 but once he reaches that point, he'll stop accelerating, and you'll be cruising up to 145+.

Here's the IS300 top speed link...

Before you even consider something as ludicrous as running at topend for 5 miles, read this:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news/ap/...t-simmons.html

Losing a license is nothing compared to losing your life!!

PS: Statistically speaking, the 2K2 auto owns the IS300 (auto or 5sp) 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile and topend.

Couple things you should consider...

How well maintained in this "private" road?? Private or not, potholes, road imperfections and high speed are not good friends. You may not only end up messing up your car but possibly losing control and your/your friends life.

A 5 mile race will not only test your car's abilities but your abilities as a driver. I think the better driver should win.

Why not just doing a series of 0-60 or 1/4 mile races?? You have the advantage there.

Just be careful and use good judgement.

Race

Only stupid 18 year olds would try something like this.Or maybe you're brain dead, and shouldn't be driving at all.Driving to top speed is one thing, then you back off. There are soooooo many factors that can happen, hit something in road or bad pavement,or that animal that decidided to cross the road the moment you came by.How about something letting go in the motor at 6500rpm,lose oil on to a tire, you're a stain on the road.Just remember trees don't move,so don't have any of those in sight. Then again we are overpopulated, and we could eliminate a couple of gene pool defects like you.Dumb A$$

At least do a few runs on it first. A few runs at 70-80 mph (highway speed) should give you a small idea of the road first. It won't do a whole lot but if there is some nasty stuff on the road you can remove it and you'll get an idea of how the pavement is.

Personally, I have trouble believing a 5 mile straight stretch of road on private property is properly maintained unless it's specifically made for racing cars. Then again, why would anyone have 5 miles straight paved on their property...1/2 mile ok, 1 mile or more is just weird...

And yes, this is extremely stupid but you already know this.

I do have to admit though that at 18 years old, we all do stupid **** that could get us killed on an almost daily basis. I've raced motorcycles in t-shirts in straight lines exceeding 125 mph on back country roads. The chips hitting my arms were like bullets and one cracked my plastic face (full face helmet). I'm lucky I lived through those years.

1st, you can't fix being 18 y/o so I won't knock your age
2nd, there's no mandate that you have to be nuts. If you feel otherwise then you shouldn't be behind the wheel of anything.
3rd, LEARN TO GIVE A CRAP. It'll save your life!!

Don't get me wrong, I've done my share of racing at topend against others. However, I've done it in short bursts AND afterwards tend to regret the possibility that something terrible could have happened because of those high speeds.

If you really want to do some serious racing, join SCCA or International Motorsports' PDA (http://www.imp-auto.com/pda/index.htm). That way, you will have the opportunity to race on a professional track (i.e.: Pocono Raceway or Lime Rock) and really get your groove on.

Just some food for thought, kid.
