Cops are people too

I'm hanging out in the village (NYC) when the wife say lets stop for ice cream . Now if anyone knows the village you also know that parking is impossible out there. Anyway I see this empty spot so I pull up noticing a sign "NO STANDING ANYTIME", I figure I'll be in and out so who cares. As I turn off the car and step out Mr. police man is standing by my pass door "I just knew I was going to get a ticket". The rest when like this:

Me: I'll move it
Cop: Is this a Maxima?
Me: Yeah
Cop: What year?
Me: 2002
Cop: this is nice you don't have to move it.
Me: Thanks
Cop: Those wheels are really nice
Me: Thanks
Cop: what size?
Me: 18's
Cop: were you going?
Me: To get ice cream
Cop: go ahead I'll watch it
Me: Thanks alot

As me and the wife looked out the store we saw the officer do a full 360 of the old Max, Inside the windows, he check out the lights.
When we came out he say again "really nice looking car".
"Have a good night officer".

Sometimes I likey my Maxie

Nice

i love that story

It's nice to hear about cool police officers and not about jerks once and a while.

No just being lazy.

I have the loot to go buy a digi cam but just don't feel like going to the store and shopping around. But as soon as I take pics they will be posted.

you know, i gotta say, despite what most people may think, NYC cops are just the nicest. theyre very personable and easy to talk to, very helpful, and understanding. and this isnt since 9/11 either. its been for as long as i can remember.

Yeah you should have gotten him a cone too. I think I'm upgrading my '97. I have to admit the lines on the new Max's are wonderful to the eyes.

He was scoping it! He knows where you live now because he knows your plate numbers. He liked those 18's and your system and they're gonna disappear one of these nights!

j/p It was cool of him, and I agree that you should've gotten him a cone too.

i actually had a bored MT cop pull me over to ask about my car. he was nice about it, said he just liked it and wanted to know if my wheels were stock (they are, 6-spoke 17's), wondered what the hp was. he said thanx, have a nice day, thanks for chatting, he'd been sitting alone in the patrol car all day, was nice to talk to someone. i wasn't in a hurry, so i wasn't upset. little did he know i had just come over the continental divide at almost 100 mph

also, i was pulled over for a burned out taillight (he was checking to see if i was drunk. i wasn't), so the officer asked about my rims, how much the tires cost, if i'd done any mods to it. said he'd been thinking about buying one.

really, it makes sense. cops get driving skills training and are capable of handling a well-performing car. so of course they're looking for a great personal ride, and the max would be a good choice for not a lot of $$$.

gas station attendants have come out to the pump to ask me about it. bank tellers have commented on it. guys in parking lots. girls at dairy queen. drive thru fast food clerks. no matter where you take it, the max gets comments. and mine is still stock!!! i don't know how you guys with body kits or vinyl get anywhere, what with all the groupies!

If that was me, I wouldn't have stayed there. I would have thought it wasn't a real cop.... ESPECIALLY in the village.

I guess your perception of NYPD depends upon where you live and how they have treated you and your friends.
