vent visors question...

are they the ones that go into the weather stripping, or are they the ones that double-sided sticky tape right to the outside of the door?

are they worth it?

Thanks!

I got my vent visors from www.custommaxima.com for like $65. They are the double-sided tape ones. I think that's the only way they're sold for the Maxima. I think that they only good on darker colored cars b/c they blend in with the color and look one with the car. They're nice to have if you smoke (even though I don't), if you like to drive with the windows open, and also in the summer you can leave your windows open a little to get some air into the car. Only problem is that once they're on, it's very hard to get them off neatly. They also cover-up the chrome around the windows. If you like the chrome, don't get the vent visors. Enjoy!

Yeah, that's what I thought... I had a 94 maxima, and they went into the weather stripping... i'm kinda skeptical about getting them because they stick to the door...

any ideas?

I've had them for about 4-5 months and i'm still debating whether or not I like the way they look. As I said earlier, I think they look good on my black car b/c they blend in with the color of the car, but they also ruin the appearance of the chrome that surrounds the door (which I like). So it's really a matter of personal preference.

Ive got them on my car and i love them. They are really nice for when its raining so u can crack the window without getting wet at all or they are good for when its hot out cuz u can leave the windows cracked. i think they look pretty good and i also have a black car so it maatches.

What about these?

These apparently go under the trim, not on top. They're available for all 5th gens. I haven't bought them yet, but they're on my list.

As I said before, I paid around $65 shipped for mine. I like the idea of how these are installed into the weather-strip, and also the fact that they provide the same protection and options are regular vent visors, without hiding the chrome. But don't you guys think that these could very easily be removed just as easliy they're installed? That's the only thing i'm worried about. Otherwise, all I can say is good-bye vent visors, hello WeatherFlectors .

I bought some vent visors for my Explorer that went into the channel like the WeatherFlectors. They worked really well and stuck in place pretty securely. Every once in a while a window would catch on the plasic as it rolled up and make a "snap" noise. Other than that, no complaints.

i had them on my last car and they did work well - it was nice to be able to crack the windows, even in the rain. i'd be careful with them, though. the edges are sharp, a couple of my friends cut themselves trying to hang out the windows - serves them right, i suppose, but it still wouldn't hurt to smooth the edges down. and when it's cold, they get brittle. i cracked one pushing on it to close the door in the winter.

more importantly, if you're going to crack the windows, make sure you remember to close them when you park. i left mine parked with the windows cracked, thinking it would look sealed up while still letting fresh air in. good idea, right? wrong. thieves pulled the visors right off, reached in and popped the door, and walked away with my stereo. suck!

Do you ever have any problems with the windows rolling up or down?

After installing them you keep the windows up for 24 hours to let them seat.
After that you should not have ant problems

i have the weathertech's also. i have a superblack maxima so you can barely even tell theyre on the car. it matches with the sunroof deflector so it's cool. now, i can smoke when it rains no problemo. it also reduces windnoise... and most importantly, it fits right in the channel that the window glass goes so im not putting any adhesive on my car. also it does not block the chrome in anyway! if anyone wants specific pictures let me know and i'll take them for you.

I've been intrested in the vent visors that Greg sells on his website but now I think I am sold on the Weathertech's. Does anyone know where I can get them slightly cheaper.....Yes I hate paying retail

As far as I know, you can only buy them straight from MacNeil. (Someone correct me if I am wrong.) Yeah, the prices are really steep. I was actually thinking about buying their floor mats, but I bought the OEM ones instead for alot cheaper.
I'm going to look into getting those Weathertech vent visors.

You could maybe try some of that adhesive remover. I pulled mine off of my '93 nissan truck and it took some of the paint off. Might I add that the paint on my truck, which has 86k on it, is of waaaaay better quality than my crappy Maxima paint. There's nowhere near as many paint chips on the truck as there is on my Max. Sorry to get of the topic a little.

Easy to install? The window rolls up with no problem? Any complaints with the WeatherFlectors?

Thanks!

Do you guys think it would look dumb if I put these ONLY on the front doors? Nobody ever really sits in my backseats so I wouldn't have much use for them back there.

I keep trying to envision them on the front only but I really can't...any opinions?

Thanks,

John

Yup, that's the cheapest place I've found them too. Weathertech Weatherflectors are definitely the way to go if you want rain deflectors. I plan to get them after I get tint, so it doesn't stand out so much on my Glacier Pearl...

I can send you pics of what they look like on mine, since mine is the same color...maybe you could host them for me?? Let me know. I had a little problem with the front visor because when i pushed the auto-up button and it got to the top I guess it sensed something there and rolled back down another 4 inches. That went away after about a week. I love 'em. Really look good and cut down on the wind noise a lot.

Installed them today

They look great on my Max! But I accidentally broke off a piece of the mounting flange on the driver's door when I was putting up the window. I forgot to push on the glass. But, that part that broke is concealed in the window channel, so you can't see it. Hopefully that one won't wobble. Otherwise, everthing went great. Very easy to install.
