lowering springs and stock struts

for those w/ aftermarket springs w/ stock struts...how do you know when the struts need replacement? how long do the springs (h&r, eibach, maxspeed, etc) usually last?

my recomendation is just to get the aftermarket struts as well. I have tokico's and they are good. You don't want to blow a strut it blows hehe

Spings are something that last basically the life of the car or until you no longer desire them. Shocks however are a normal wear and tear item that will need to be replaced over the life of the car. The life of the shocks depends on road conditions driving etc. They should last at least 60K miles.

To test if your shocks are blown push down on the front or back of your car really heard the car should drop and come right bick up. If your car bounces several times before settling you need new shocks

thanks for the tip. are you running stock shocks/struts on your h&r springs? i was wondering if the stock struts won't last as long on lowered cars.

I still have my stock shocks considering at the time I had 15,000 miles on my car I plan to keep the stocks for another 10K miles just to get my moneys worth out of them. Lowering springs do shorten the life of the stock shocks and again driving conditions will determine that and the amount of drop you have. Since the H&R's produce such a small drop the stock shock will last at the least 10K miles probably more but I will replace them before then to avoid blowing a shock.

I had 47K miles on my 2K when I replaced my stock struts over to Tokico.
