My brother can't make up his mind between a Maxima SE and an Acura TL. He is not a comlete sports car enthusiast so he is looking at Automatics (big sissy).
Any advise for him?

As much as i love my max if i had the money i would take the tl. Since i only drive autos it is a better choice with its 5 speed auto.. It also has leather standard, Hids, Slighty faster 0-60 than an auto max, etc....

The Max is a great car, but the TL is just awesome. Looks great right out of the box and everything you can think of is included, except for the navigation. Plus, it's fast...

TL

I was torn between the Maxima and the TL when I bought my max. The TL felt more comfortable and the construction seemed better. The Max felt like it was more powerful and in my opinion, looked better (TL's too plain looking). I was leaning toward the TL (had to get an auto 'cause my wife would be driving it too, but at least the TL had a semi-manual option)until they had a 0.9% financing special for the Max. If money isn't an issue (the Max was $8000 CDN less), I would've gotten the TL. If I didn't have to share the car, I would've gotten a Max (manual). :-)

tell him to wait till the 2002 models arrive.

Acura will release the Type S TL, with 260 Hp and four doors, plus they will redesign it, so it will look awsome, about 32-33K for it though.
