The car is officially a 5 speed now (VLSD)
Many thanks to mingo (Daniel) and Turbo95Max (Matthel) for helping out on the install. Couldn't have done it without you guys.
I appreciate DAVEB (Dave Burnette at Town North Nissan 800-251-7278) and his efforts to gather all the parts for me. Thanks for not going crazy on me when I called and told you nuts/bolts didn't fit or were missing.
Thank you [maxi-overdose] for taking pictures of the install and burning them onto discs for me.
We could've been done much earlier (last week), but Nissan's parts catalogue confused us so we had to order the passenger side LSD drive axle. O well, at least this is documented for you guys now.
The car revs up pretty quickly with the Unorthodox Racing lightened flywheel, but it also drops down quickly. The ACT clutch was pretty soft until yesterday. It now feels stiffer than the 300ZX TT brakes, but the brake lines might still have air in them (had to remove the ABS actuator to get the clutch lines in). The Pacesetter short throw shifter is STIFF, but I have it set at the lowest setting (top thread barely showing at the top of the ball). I guess I can get a full workout with the stiff clutch and stiff shifter. Hehehe
The hardest part of the install as installing the clutch lines and wiring the park neutral position switch (with reverse lights). We had to remove the ABS actuator (the big square thing where the brake lines go into). The clutch lines would have been almost impossible to put in if we left the actuator in place. When we were done, we had to go through 3 bottles of 32 oz. Valvoline brake fluid (not going with Motul until I know there are no air bubbles in the lines).
The ESM had diagrams which looked somewhat foreign to us, but after 3 hours Matthel figured it out. The reverse lights were easy to figure out afterwards.
There is still one bug to fix. The passenger rotor rubs the inside of the 300ZX caliper a bit on hard turns. Hopefully that will go away when I upgrade to larger (diameter) 3000 GT rotors.
The car is more fun to drive now. I will hold off on driving hard until the clutch is broken in. It's weird to see the RPM at 3000 while driving 70 mph.
Items for sale:
- Levoc carbon fiber shifter (auto)
- Carbon fiber dash kit on center console (auto)
People already have dibs on the valvebody, tranny cooler, tranny control module, shift solenoid, and tranny.

Blah! Go away you traitor! Let's make him walk the plank! hahaha...j/k Kev, you know I would do the same in a heartbeat if given the chance.
Btw, I bet the Greddy BOV sounds even sweeter with the 5spd.

So far...
He's said $1800 for a BRAND NEW AE LSD 5-speed tranny PLUS $800 for the axles(both or each?). That's not including the clutch componenets, UR flywheel(~$400), ACT clutch(~$350), and I'm betting LOTS of beer for Matthew and Mingo.
So, this mod is NOT for the weak at heart.
Edit, just saw the AE shift **** and 2K2 shift console, so that's another $100 or so. What a copy cat~!

Thank you guys.
Vadim: The RPM's are a bit higher than yours because you have one extra overdrive gear.
Dou... Sprint: First, 18's... now manual.
IceY2K1: Not sure if the swap was worth it yet... we'll see when the clutch is broken in. ~$800 for both axles... STS was $60(?). Yes, 2k2 console and AE shift ****.
BugNout: 288.9 hp to the wheels. Hehehe
p010sp0rt8: I believe only I30t's have LSD.
serin: Good luck!
Regime: Check out IceY2K1's post.
Lumbee799: I bought the manual gauge bezel, but I don't think I'm going to change it... reason why: The "R" lights up when I go into reverse. Hehehehe
KLoWnPR109: Hehehehe That's her choice.
yongjun: When Turbo95Max fixes his car.

I guess that's another auto guy lost...
Great job. One of my favorite mods you've done is the SE to SC badge conversion. Clearly you are one to focus on every detail, and I'm sure the 5-speed will delight for many miles to come.
